User Login Screen Limit

Howdy!

I just ran into this today. I have 51 users on my emby server (mix of family members, old co workers & friends). Today I realized when having added the 51st person, the login screen appears to stop at 50 users without an option for a page 2. It also causes the "Manual Login" Button to disappear.

Is there something obvious I'm missing? I can't be the first person to hit 50 users.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a question. If you have more than 50, then wouldn't it be quicker for users to just type in their username ?

Most of my users prefer it this way to be honest. Did I hit a hard limit with the emby login page?

OK we'll take a look at it. Thanks.

Sort of but there are other topics on this.

You don't have 50 users using the same device, right?  So, if you hide users from login screens that have never logged in on that device, doesn't that solve your problem (and make the system much easier to use)?

Nope, 50 different users, well actually 55 unique users.

I am going to look into editing that file later :) @Luke Is that the official way to work around this? Or is the 50 user limit a hard limit you have no intention of changing?

Thanks for the answers so far!

Hi.  "Nope" to what?  If all 50 users don't use the same device then my suggestion should solve your problem.

All 54 users use different devices to login. I'm not sure how to use your advice.

I look at my login screen, and the option for manual login and the last few users are cut off at the bottom because of the user limit. I have to try that virtualchunksize edit to see if that helps out.

As Eric says above - unless you have all 55 users logging into the SAME device - then by selecting this option below per user, the other users will not show at all - thus resolving your issue ?

Ah! I understand. This solution could work, the only downside I see is if one of my users sign in from a new device, they will be thrown off for a minute as they actually have to type in their username. I'd be willing to give this a whirl.

Is there a way to mass edit users yet so I can enable this on everyone in one shot?

Not that I'm aware of .. it's a one off config - so I would test a few users and if it's what you need - then manually do the rest - for 50 users it's a little laborious but shouldn't take long. 😉

Just went through the list and that appears to correct the issue. I'll work with this for a bit, not a big deal to have users type in their username. majority of the users are family anyway, so I'm use to them texting me all the time anyway :)

Great - they only need to do it once - then they will then appear as users on that device next time.

It's a neat solution as it stops clogging the devices up with users that never use them :)
