How do I fix this?  The album cover has an album image, but the folder does not.

What is your Music Library "Music folder structure:" setting as that will determine if your local images can be used.

But to add to this Folder view will always use folder images and virtual Album view could have a different image per structure option and use \metadata\musidalbums\xxxxxxxxxxxx\xxxx image.

You will have to go over a specific example as I can only guess naming schemes.

What information exactly do you need to see?

One of the 'good' albums does not have an image in the folder

Looks correct, what are your library settings?

As there is no folder image so Folder view can't display a image.  But the question now will be why was it not saved there?

Like I said, what exactly do you need?  Treat me like the dummy I am.

Since you are not saving with media, they get saved in \metadata\musicalbums\xxxxxxxxxx and will cause Folder view to not have an image.  The currently image will only be presented in virtual Album view.

So why do some show an image and some don't?

Minus a cache issue I am not sure as relooking at your images "Flashback" should not show a folder image.

Is there a way to diagnose?

Does the Flashback album exist in \metadata\musicalbums?

Possibly delete the cache folder  "\cache\images" and possibly browser cache and navigate.

The album and the folder are not the same thing, as far as the server is concerned.

Maybe some of your folders have an image file.

@Luke as told above, there are no image files in the folders.

Okay @Happy2Play, before I blow away \Emby-Server\programdata\cache, what will this affect?  How will the cache be repopulated?

It is cached images that are technically deleted and recreated every 30 days.

That will have no effect on this just fyi.

Okay, then what is going on?  How do we fix this?  Why the inconsistency?

I don't know why some of your folders have images, but if you want them all to have images, then you'll need to put images into the folders.

Wait.  There are no images now, yet the folder has an image.  This needs to be explained.

So, you are telling me that the only correct way to show an image for the folder is to drop an image file into the music file folder?

Unless there is something in your log no one can explain what is happening on your system.

And Yes to the second.  But all tagging software usually has a option to save image to folder when writing to file.

Some tracks might have their own images assigned. A parent folder can use those when there is no image on the folder itself. That could be why some folders have images, because it's pulling it from something underneath that does have one.

I thought about that, Luke, but MP3tag doesn't show any image on the tracks.

From what I can discern, you guys (Emby) don't know how all the spaghetti works.  When you edit img on the folder that has an image (but not in the folder), it shows as Primary.  Now, if you add an image to Primary, the image file is not put in the folder.  So there is another way images can be shown and you just must not be aware.  Who can look at the code paths and figure this out?

And a specific example with logs as your previous settings will not save with media per library options.  So this should cause issues in Folder view.

We do know how it works, but users tinker and cause weird anomalies every day. You were just about to delete your cache folder, which would have been fine, but that's just an example.

Also things are often caused by events that happened in the past, such as having different settings at the time something was imported, a defect in an older server version, etc. Those can be hard to chase down so sometimes it's better to just look at moving forward.

I have given you all of the ways an image can be assigned to a folder.

What MP3tag says has no bearing. You could have tracks in Emby Server with images assigned.

Sometimes you really confuse me.  What do I do to generate a log that will tell you anything about a static situation?  I've already described a specific situation.  You told me I had to have an image file in the folder, but this was proven false at least two ways.
