GPU transcoding failed

Hello everyone

I'm just start using Emby premium today to use gpu acceleration, since every time I'm watching some movie the CPU usage will be 9X% all most of time.

After using gpu acceleration with nvnec , Cpu usage do get lower, but Gpu usage would always be 100% and video playback will stop. I can't even watch for 1 min with 4k hdr video or even a 1080p h264 video.

Same video use potplayer to watch on same PC and would be no problem at all. Any suggestion to fix it?

Ensure transcode throttling is turned on - for the GPU to be at 100%, it must be trying to transcode as fast as possible.   Throttling just transcodes what is needed to maintain the playback buffer - thus giving your system a chance to catch up/settle.

The one thing I found out that my 4k TV with a Roku (via ethernet) only uses software transcoding (old DVD) or direct play. Using a computer browser with the same TV uses hardware transcoding or direct play.

@1Frank1

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Really don't consider that a playback issue - just an interesting tidbit...
And for me it's not an issue since I am getting rid of the rokus - mini pc cost a bit more but offers so much more

  • Thanks 1
