Schleudertrauma 10 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Hey guys, as the title says, the playback freezes randomly and very often. That's annoying and i don't have a clue how to fix this problem. I studied the logs but i can't find errors relating to this. I'm running emby behind a reverse proxy , maybe that's important. I'll upload my nginx.conf, the embyserver.txt and my reverse proxy emby log here but i don't think that the proxy is the problem because that issue happens in the local network too. But maybe you can specify the problem. The playback issue is really random and for me it is not visible why it happens. One time i can watch 5 episodes from a show and it freezes in the middle of an episode, the other time i can watch 15 min and it freezes. The same with movies. It doesn't matter which media it is, mkv, avi, mp4, all the same. Even if the server is direct playing and no transcoding is needed to the client the issue happens. I don't get it. Same on Opera on Windows 10/11, Emby on Xbox, Emby Theater on Windows etc.. There is no error notification from emby when it happens just a freezed video. One can end the watching and restart the video and emby will play until the issue happens next time. Any hints? greetz schleudi embyserver.txt emby.log nginx.conf
Luke 42078 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Hi there, have you compared your nginx setup to this?
Schleudertrauma 10 Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 Just now, Luke said: Hi there, have you compared your nginx setup to this? Yes, i used this tutorial to set up my proxy. The RP is working fine so far i think.
Schleudertrauma 10 Posted November 12, 2022 Author Posted November 12, 2022 I have an additional Info: When the video freezes it is looping a few seconds. I saw that on the overview page that the video loops i.e. from 00:14:50 to 00:14:57 ever and ever again but the screen is frozen anyway. Very strange.
Luke 42078 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 HI, can you try lowering the in-app quality setting and see if that helps? That will usually help with freezing type of issues, stuttering, etc. Thanks.
