SwanStream 64 Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 I use Emby to track my audiobooks... it doesn't do well at all. I use the server to manage... and local device to download/play. Sometimes download works, but mostly it doesn't. device doesn't matter, app vs web access doesn't matter. So frustrating. At the minute, here's the issue. I try to download something using these settings: Nothing happens at the device (yes the app is loaded and accessing the server.) When I go to "manage downloads" I see this for the settings: It's not new, it happens like that most of the time. Been like that for years, many versions of Emby. The item never downloads. It changes the settings, I see no place I can lock in what I want, but I did put in the right settings in the first screen cap.... Apologies, very frustrating how little attention this gets over the years. Once downloaded... if it works, I use another app for playing the audio files, because that part doesn't work right either. How can downloading a media file be this fubar for this long? Sometimes it doesn't change the settings, other times it does. Sometimes it downloads, most of the time it just doesn't... doesn't matter where the download is initiated, device or server, app or web.
Luke 42085 Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Hi, have you tried doing it from the device directly?

Yes, per OP " doesn't matter where the download is initiated, device or server, app or web" To be clear, I've tried several devices, from PC's to android. Many devices, from the devices directly and from the server to the devices. Result is the same... i.e. random works or doesn't, etc. For many years, with different versions of devices, apps, browsers, etc. Edited November 10, 2022 by SwanStream
Luke 42085 Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 Since you're on a Samsung, you might have to disable power saving modes in system settings in order for the app's background download process to be able to run.

Not my issue. It's foreground when I'm using it to select a file to download.... and I run Max performance always.
Luke 42085 Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 You still may have to do that. Can you please check the samsung system settings? You may also have to check if any restrictions have been applied to the app.

"Allow background activity" is ON.
SwanStream 64 Posted November 11, 2022 Author Posted November 11, 2022 And as mentioned in OP, same behavior from multiple clients, some samsung, but others PC. screen caps just an example...
