Where are my featurettes?

Recommended Posts

I have a number of featurettes ripped from my bluray or dvd (both TV and movies) and only some of them seem to show up, with no rhyme or reason.

Here is one directory structure for example: I recently bought the UHD edition of Top Gun- Maverick.

the structure (Images below) show

->Top Gun - Maverick (2022) [tmdbid=361743
|-> featureettes
   |-> A love Letter to Aviation.mkv
   |-> .... other featurettes...
|-> Top Gun- Maverick - UHD.mkv
|-> Top Gun- Maverick.mkv

I would expect to see the featurettes on the movies page, but nothing... What am I doing wrong?

The two Maverick version have different titles.  One has space dash space and the other has dash space.  They should have the exact same title until after the first dash.  I would also try just removing the first dash entirely.  I find that helps.  You can always name the main media page, whatever you like.

Hope that helps.

Ill give it a try.  My media naming system has had some spacing issues (I have to find the bug) when the themoviedb name for the show has a colon

Its supposed to replace it with XXX - YYY, but sometimes it does XXX- YYY...

However, I am seeing the same thing on the regular top gun (I just both the double feature UHD), and it also has featurettes that are not showing up

Are you manually grouping or using the plugin for grouping as naming does not conform to core automatic grouping (folder and file naming mismatch)?

But will test.

I do use the plugin for grouping by ID.

But many of the missing feature files were not part of those movies.

I only added the top gun yesterday and went to look for the featurettes

@HawkXP71 Do you know if this has ever worked?  Which plugin version are you using?

If I had to guess there the plugin does not account for extras.  Testing could only get it to work with core automatic grouping via naming scheme.

@Cheesegeezerdo you know if the plug accounts for extras?

Im running "Auto Movie Version Grouping" 1.0.0.0, honestly I dont know if it ever worked.

@Lukeis this something in the core when the naming scheme is not used as neither version will sees/link any extras?  Two versions show as expected.

I don’t believe it does, the grouping specifically targets typeof(movie) and also requires the tmdb or imdb and name to match the movies for autogrouping

Are they not supposed to be in an Extras folder?

No all of these should work per the KB.  But in the end, it is about requirement of Multi-versioning and Extras.

  • extras
  • specials
  • shorts
  • scenes
  • featurettes
  • behind the scenes
  • deleted scenes
  • interviews
  • trailers

The documentation lists about 8 or 9 folder names.

But it sounds like what I need to do is make sure all of my extras and whatnot are actually in the base movie so that it will be merged properly with the secondary movies that get grouped in

I manually group multi versions (I have a separate 4K folder) and extras work fine.

But I believe that is the key as they are separated.  If in the same folder I don't believe it is possible to know which file to link the extras to.

SHouldnt it link to both?

Each version gets access to all of the extras, so it doesn't really matter which one it's linked to.

So my comments are true that multi-version in same folder have to use core naming scheme to work, correct? (needs noted in KB)

Otherwise they have to be in separate folders to be merged by manual or plugin grouping.

I think if you have two videos, each with extras, and then you manually join them, then everything should be combined together.

But currently neither video will see extras when they are in the same folder not following core naming scheme.

I just tested the scenario I mentioned and it seemed to work  just fine.

The image I posted does not provide extras in either version as they are separate and joining them still provides no extras.

But if I correct the naming scheme to core grouping it works fine.

HIs issue is expected behavior because the files are not named properly to be joined together automatically, therefore it gets treated like a mixed folder and the featurettes subfolder is not used for extras.

So yes he'll either have to use a supported naming convention, or move the extras up into the same folder as the movies and use the -featurette suffix.

So extras requires core naming scheme grouping in order to work and probably needs to be in the KB as not useing that naming scheme and using core manual grouping or plugin will not see extras.

Or you are required to have each version in their own folder to see extras.

But I guess the new method of -featurette to a specific version in parent folder could correct this issue.
