zer0ish 12 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Hello, According to this link https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159497-devices Removing devices should be easy by clicking the Minus button. But for some reason I don't see that on my server. I have to right click the device and then select Delete. Regardless of what View option I use, I have to right click to delete. If the minus button for quick delete isn't available anymore, can a new function be added to quickly mass delete a bunch of inactive devices? Like tick boxes that you tick all the ones you want to remove then click delete? Even a scheduler task to remove devices that haven't been used in the last 7 days. Thanks,
Luke 42083 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 HI, the design has changed since then. If you mouse over a device, you should see a 3-dot menu that might be quicker to access than right clicking. @cayars will update the kb. Thanks.

Often times I have over 50 to remove since I use several devices to connect to my server and my ISP changes my IP all the time. So every time that happens the devices I use from remote areas register as new devices then don't get used again. Would be nice to have the old Minus back or a tick box to mass remove. Or even and option to remove all devices at once. At least with the Minus it was one click as opposed to 3. I suppose this can now be labeled as a feature request?

Ideally the screen should support the multi-select features that other screens do, and then you'd be able to delete that way. 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I'm positive there is also a 'device cleaner' plugin out there to remove stale devices .. ? Can't find the link atm .. 1 1

Can't find the link atm .. I updated the KB article to match the current interface. There was a Device Cleaner Plugin, but I can't find it either. It would be helpful to be able to multi-select and then delete devices like we can media objects! Just as helpful would be the ability to filter what you see. That could be by user, device type, device name, date, etc. This would be convenient to have for assigning a user to a specific device in the user security setup. While not mentioned in this thread I just want to make it clear that removing or leaving devices does not affect Emby Premier device counts.

Ah it's @chef's - just looked on his github https://github.com/chefbennyj1/Emby.DeviceCleaner Not sure if there is a DLL lurking on the forums - @chef, do you have the DLL handy or can recompile please ?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Here you go as it is named a little different on forum. 2

I did end up finding this with a google search(can we all just appreciate google? LOL) I'll see how it works in the next few weeks. If it works for what I want then no action needed. 6 hours ago, cayars said: I updated the KB article to match the current interface. There was a Device Cleaner Plugin, but I can't find it either. While I'm OCD about keeping it clean, if it doesn't affect server performance, I can live with it. I'd still rather have the minus button as seen in the original KB post I linked, or a scheduler to remove every device older then 7 days. Not a game changer though. I prefer Emby to any other media server I've tried to date. Thanks for the work the team and "volunteers?" do.
Carlo 4561 Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I have 2500 or so devices on one of my servers that I've not removed and haven't seen any issue from that. All the active or recently used devices are at the top of the list which makes them pretty easy to find (filters would of course help). So it's nothing I would worry about in normal use! Carlo 1
justinrh 260 Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 I don't see why there is not a 'delete all' button - just seems like a natural thing to have in this case. I don't need to see 170 Firefoxes, which really doesn't help me since there is no way to distinguish one from another. I was just about to create a post asking how to delete all devices, then I did a search ... and zeroish showed up! 1

But yeah, my OCD still doesn't like seeing it. 1
