raudraido 48 Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Right now converting media has 2 options, replace original file or move new file next to original. Both of those options assume emby has RW acccess to your media folder. I don't have RW access and I do not want to grant that either. So, I suggest custom path possibility. 1 1
Solution Luke 42077 Posted November 2, 2022 Solution Posted November 2, 2022 Hi, you can do this with the folder sync plugin, but yes, at some point we plan to move this feature to the convert feature. 2
raudraido 48 Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 OK, it's working. Now, when I choose that newly created vesion, I should be able to download that version, instead emby still gives me original file..

Luke 42077 Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 @raudraido this is only a single version video. When you click download, you're going to get the 4k hevc version every time. If this were a multi-version video then you'd have a version drop down box on this screen right above the media info. Does that answer your question?

Any reason the “Convert media to a custom folder” option still hasn’t been added to the native Convert feature? Relying on the Folder Sync plugin for something this basic feels unnecessary. It adds extra steps, extra folder structure, and extra overhead when all users really want is “convert this file and save it here.” Native support would be cleaner, simpler, and far more intuitive for end-users. Is there a specific reason this still hasn’t been implemented or just old and forgotten?
