Artwork disappears with extension change

I have a problem where if I put a file on the server, for example:

Jaws (1975).mp4

After Emby scrapes it, adds the artwork, metadata, etc., if I upload a new file to that folder, where the extension changes, but the filename doesn't, for example:

Jaws (1975).mkv

Not immediately, but within a couple of days (not sure if it's some Emby task or cache or what), the artwork for that movie disappears.  The metadata seems intact, but I always need to manually select new artwork.  I am using artwork in local folders if that matters.  Is there a setting that can resolve this, or is this a bug?

The main movie poster, thumb and background all disappear.  I've tried re-scanning the movie folder after changing the file extension, and the artwork still shows, but a couple/three days later it's gone.  As a test, add a new movie to a test server with .mp4 extension, let it scrape and add artwork.  Then add a new movie file to that folder (with same file name) with .mkv extension and delete the .mp4 file.  If it's like my system, a few days later, the artwork will be missing.  Possibly I have a setting wrong somewhere, I dunno.  But I'll occasionally download things that are .mp4, and later Handbrake them to .mkv, and then I have to go back and clean up the artwork in a few days.

Are the poster, thumb and background files still present, or are they gone as well?

They are gone also.  I've tested this more and it seems to be somewhat random.  I guess I just don't understand how a movie file exists in a folder, and the movie shows up in Emby, but the artwork disappears, why doesn't a subsequent scan detect and pull in new artwork since it's missing?  I'm going to probs just change my process adding new files to the server so file extension changes don't happen.

The scan reacts to the change and removes the images from the database, but does not automatically download new ones. For that you'll need to do a manual refresh of metadata.
