I skimmed through this thread and see that the hiding of watched movies is tied to the whole "Hide Played Media From Latest media" checkbox and that can't be chosen on a per-library basis for now, fair enough. But since I still want to keep this setting on and not see recently watched items on the homepage, could you make an option to remove the numbers from the thumbnails? That way yes, I might have less than 9 items on the home page sometimes but at least they are not numbered and some missing from between. And also when checking the library itself with all the entries, the sorting by name wouldn't affect the visual look and numbers wouldn't be out of order there as well.

To be fair, I don't actually care for the numbered list anyway since if I use User Engagement, it's not a definite "top 10 list" anyway but should be more like a semi-random suggestion of stuff other users like, in no particular order so the numbers don't really make sense in my mind anyway. Along with this option it could then use the original thumbnails of media items and not build them from the backdrop and logo, maybe speed up the job that way as well.

Removing the numbers from thumbnails should actually make it easier to expand the list too, right? I'm guessing the 9 item limit is mostly because of the number not fitting on the thumbnail (or more so on the primary image). With no numbers there could also more easily be a higher limit (even 10 would be better as a nice round number).

My backdrops reside within a backdrops folder within the movie folder. Each 1 being called video1.mp4 (or video1.mp4, video2.mp4 ect depending how many video backdrops, I normally just have the 1 video backdrop per movie)

Yeah. Just have to look for them and copy them. Should be doable.

We could have 10 items by doing what Netflix's doing. An outlined font placed behind the poster.

We can try.

We need to create a bitmap image 1 to 10.

It can be in png format. 

Where the folder image is rendered is blank.

I can try to see if I can create it.

Perhaps I can change the plugin so it looks somewhere for custom numbers background???

I'll come back to this for sure.

Ope. I don't get email notified for these comments. Did you push an update @chef? I see the file you posted but not sure how to add that in my docker implementation

I've started work on this.

But, there will have to be some guidelines out up so users can create custom. Images that fit.

@chef i have emby premier with the same email i pay the $3 with its still showing 

The trial period for this feature has expired

it doesnt create the top pics folder but if i spin up a new emby with the trial it works

Top picks is fully working for me.

Above are my settings, and top picks shows as a library on Home Screen,

Top Picks shows up in Latest Section

Also when I click on play from a Top Picks Item, it plays as it should.

Another question, how to let the Top Picks shows by order 123... My Top Picks shows on the home screen with randomly number like the lottery number. I would like it to show like the Netflix.

the strm links are corrupt or something as i can't play them from vlc and should be able too however the actual file its linked to plays fine from emby or vlc.

It's not working because you probably used up your free trial. I have the same problem. double check that it's not saying expired in the catalog.

You have to message @chefto get it sorted out. witch might take a while as he's not active right  now. I've been waiting 1 week now. in the meantime, pm me I have a way to reset the trial if you want. witch will give you 14 days hopefully by then chef will fix it for you.

Hello Everyone,

I’d like to share a project I’ve been working on a Docker container that automates the management of Emby’s "Top Picks" feature.

Initially, I created this container for personal use, but I’ve done a lot of refactoring to make it accessible to others. I hope it can be useful to the community.

How It Works

1. Fetching Trending Media:

The container fetches two pages of trending movies and shows (20 each) from Trakt’s public lists, keeping the same order. It then retrieves the TMDb IDs for these items.

2. Matching with Local Media:

Using the TMDb IDs, it queries your Emby server to check if the media is available locally and retrieves the internal Emby IDs required by the "Top Picks" plugin.

3. Updating Top Picks:

The container updates the "Top Picks" plugin configuration with the retrieved Emby IDs and manually triggers the "Update Top Picks" scheduled task.

4. Fixing NFO Issues:

To address the common issue of .nfo files being stored in the root folder of shows instead of the correct season folder, the container runs a loop for 1 minute after the task is triggered. During this time, it organizes the .nfo files into their proper season directories.

Note: To avoid conflicts, disable .nfo generation for the "Top Picks" library, as it isn’t necessary and can exacerbate the issue.

Things to Keep in Mind

This container might not suit everyone’s needs, but feel free to customize it to fit your setup. It’s designed to be flexible and configurable.

My media libraries are large libraries of.Strm files and  Top-Picks seem to do all it should it creates the mixed content library folder and put the created .Strm file into its own folder with the movie's name, But if I click on it to play it nothing ever plays. It will just spin or black screen after spinning a while. I cannot play the top pick created .Strm file with any player vlc nothing however, my original .strm file for the move in my movies library plays fine. So it seems the Top Pick created .strm file is not working for me? I hope this makes sense guys.
