Sry, had to restart and delete the top picks config, then it showed up

 

Hi,

 

i installed the plugin maybe 2 years ago or so. not from the catalog, the download was here in the thread.

but now its not working. i deleted the emby.toppicks.ddl but its still there. before and after the deleting there were no plannes tasks to "refresh top picks or so" i thinkthe switch so the catalog plgin does not work.

in the catalog i cant fing the plugin...am i missing something?

Hmm, had to come here again.

after i could reinstall the plugin it showed in the menu up and i could also configure it.

but the main problem is, it shows only the 4 movies there are maybe since 1 year. and they are all watched :).

is there an option that i am missing?

Would it be possible to give some more info. In not entirely sure either follow.

okay, maybe im misunderstanding the plugin.

in my mind this plugin looks through my entire libary and checks all the movies, that i watched and gives me 9 suggestions out of my "prefference" .. it includes also ratings and critics.

is this correct so far?

Yeah, you are right.

Yes, the plugin will select movies for you, but you can also select movies.

May see a log from when the task was run.

That way I can figure out why only 4 are selected.

can u give an instruction where u describe how to uninstall the plugin completely?

i think old files are bothering here. (i installe the plugin manually 1-2 years ago and i have no update done)

Thank you for the log. I'm at work but will be back soon to look at it.

 

In the mean time, under the 'Library' tab of the dashboard. Remove the 'Top Picks' library, and restart the server. 

Let me know if that fixes the issue.

You have to physically remove the library. It isn't great I know.

I'll look at the log.

It is possible that the four movies it found simply have highest weights in the recommendation calculations.

It is also possible that other media items aren't hitting the criteria for some reason. Missing metadata maybe???

It's all speculation at the moment until I ready the log.

It will tell us exactly why those four are chosen, and why it stopped looking afterwards for the other 5 titles.

Have you run that user engagement task ?

For me it helped when I ran update top picks, then user engagement and then update top picks once more

wont help. there are only 4 movies and everytime the same movies.

Right, the idea is that it would post media items that rank highly in a tier list.

It isn't really a recommended plugin because emby already has that row.

Embys built in recommended row would display items that haven't been watched per user.

This would show highly ranked items in the Library.

Every user would see the same items displayed.

i have to klick on the "little media" button.

i dont think this plugin will work

what kind of behavior is that?
I bet I'm not the only one with this problem.

Sorry, you miss understand me.

I thought you said the plugin wasn't going to work for you.

No blame here.

I will continue to look at the issue, and hopefully after work today be able to better understand why the user engagement task is only choosing 4 items.

2 questions:

1. show me how to cpmpletely uninstall the plugin / where is the plugin saving files or making changes?

 

2. in the log, even if i activate the debug mode, all top pick entrys seem to be "Info".

is there another log? where to change the logging state?

The log shows that the plugin deliberately choose only 4 media items for the display.

It also shows that it successfully choose both TV and movies for the library which means the mixed content is working g as planned.

I now know exactly where to look in the code to find out what is going on.

The library creates itself as a mixed content library.

Wait a minute!  Is the top picks library not set as 'mixed content' ?

Interesting, I think we have stumbled across one issue.

Just as a test, could you set the library as mixed content, then rerun the engagement task?

I'm currently looking at the project solution.
