Something mess up in my DLNA setting

Recommended Posts

Just found out my DLNA setting page in emby showing up like this:

I am pretty sure some settings are missing like "Blasting alive messages", or the UI got redesigned somehow?

Anyway DLNA is not working at all, can't even see the server in my phone, TV or Quest 2, it's been ages since I touch this setting last time, so maybe I mess up something obvious?

I am running EMBY in docker on my Unraid server, I attach my server log below with DLNA debug logging enabled, hope dev can make something out of it, thanks.

Hi there, do you have docker configured in host or bridge networking mode?

bridge mode.

Please try host and let us know how that compares. Setting up dlna with bridge mode is significantly more complicated.

OK, Test with host mode, VLC on my phone can work with dlna now, but my Quest 2(bigscreen app) can only see the unraid dlna server, not able to login, the login wheel just keep spinning.

Also using host mode is not ideal for my server.

What do you mean by unable to login? Dlna doesn't have a login process.

If you want to use bridge mode that's fine, but you'll need to configure the docker container appropriately so that emby server can communicate with other devices on your network.

Are you sure that server log is from when you tried to connect with the Quest2? I don't see any activity there. Can you try it again with host networking mode? Thanks.

Hello,

the same for me, BigScreen on the Quest2 finds my Emby server, but can't access it. Loading circle spins and nothing happens. Emby installed on Debian11.

Skybox VR Player works, can access Emby Server.  But would like to use Bigsceen.

here is my log

Sorry, I can't use host mode stably on myserver, after every reboot it would mess up my network settings.

Right now I have to switch back to bridge mode, I guess I have to give up on dlna server until I can fix this problem.

On a related topic, is there a plan for EMBY VR version?

Hi, it's a great idea for future updates, although supporting our existing features comes first.

I've got a Quest 1. Using Bigscreen, I have never been able do Emby with it. Before, It used to show my Emby server but when I connected it would just spin. Now my Emby server doesn't even show up, only my windows share drive (which also only spins). This is with the latest DLNA update. Works great with Skybox VR tho'.

This is a link from an earlier post on the issue.

I've turned on Log Debugging, DLNA Debuging, rotated the log, and attached. Hope this can help with troubleshooting the issue.

@gihayes are you still running into this with Emby Server 4.7.11?

Yes. Can connect, browse, and play using Skybox, but with Bigscreen, It shows my computer / Emby, but after clicking it, I just get spinning wheel no matter how long I wait.

Big Screen DLNA support with Emby Server is resolved in the Emby DLNA plugin version 1.1.4+. Thanks !
