JakeJacksonHTX 0 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 I'm new here and loving Emby, but I wanted to know if there is any way to default the TV listings database to IMDB instead of The TVDB? I tried reaching out to TVDB to see if I could edit listings of shows to align with IMDB, Wikipedia, and the network's own website, but they are not interested in changing. So, when shows air in syndication and I capture them with my Tablo, rip them to my computer with Tablo Ripper and add them to my databases, the are all in s01e01 format. But, TVDB has numerous listings that don't match IMDB, Wiki, Network, OR syndication season & episodes, so I find myself having to constantly edit metadata and it's not only annoying, but time consuming. I wish the mods at TVDB were more willing to unlock shows for editing, but they won't budge, so I would prefer to tell my Emby server to prefer IMDB listings (which I CAN edit) over TVDB. Any help would be great, or if not possible, could the programmers at Emby make this possible? There's not even an option currently for directing TV listings to even look to IMDB for metadata on TV listings, but I have found IMDB to be MUCH more accurate than The TVDB for numerous shows... Thanks! Jake

Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 @JakeJacksonHTX Sorry no as IMDB want $150,000 + api calls a year. Our only options are TVDB, TMDB and OMDB. We currently also have Aired, DVD and Absolute orders offered by TVDB. So in the end we are limited to the order these providers have.

I had no idea IMDB charged that much!! What a scam! I guess I will go back and try to reason with The TVDB moderators. Among many other shows, Pawn Stars is all jacked up as they have all seasons listed by years and not seasons, so among that show, I have many others that have screwed up metadata because they don't match the way they are listed in syndication or as downloadable from PlayLater. They don't seem very open minded to change, though, which means a ton of annoying editing of metadata. I would prefer to fix the source so EVERYONE can benefit, rather than editing my own personal server. Maybe if others would make similar requests, they would be willing to unlock certain series for editing because I'm willing to make it right and match every other database on the Internet.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 There are a few shows they have changed from number to year seasons and unfortunately they will not change that. Is TMDB the order you have for Pawn Stars? Pawn Stars (TV Series 2009- ) - Seasons — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org)

Is TMDB the order you have for Pawn Stars? Pawn Stars (TV Series 2009- ) - Seasons — The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org) OK, yes. It looks like that is the database my server is defaulting to for that show since it more closely matched my files. I hadn't really looked to that source yet for TV listings and wasn't aware that they were available there. I have been primarily using IMDB and TVDB for TV listings. Yeah, the year seasons thing is annoying when the rest of the Internet is defaulting to studio or network season listings. Many shows I have aligned with seasons on The TVDB, such as Biography because it's just easier, but Pawn Stars has hundreds of episodes and it would take forever to edit metadata to match TVDB. I'll join TMDB and see if I can edit some listings over there instead. I don't understand why TVDB mods are so stubborn. They say History/Discovery keep changing listings, but looking across all databases, the others all seem to be in agreement on metadata. Then there's TVDB... I'll put TMDB over TVDB in my library settings. Thanks for your help!
