Metadata management for movies?

I'm using MusicBrainz Picard client to manage writing metadata directly to my files for music.

What are similar options for managing metadata on video files?  My collections in particular need some love...

Yes Luke you got it.  What are the top options for writing metadata directly to my video files?  I tried to help myself with some searches here and didn't get a clear picture if there's a Picard equivalent for movie or tv files.

I don't know of any but @Happy2Play might.

I know there are automated programs to write mp4 metadata but don't know of any for mkv.

MetaX is good but Windows only.
