filski 5 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 (edited) Hi, I've experienced an issue fairly consistently, wondering if it's known. Searched the forums but couldn't find it. I have a Chromecast with Google TV, plugged into a receiver via HDMI. Emby Android TV app generally plays audio out in 5.1 ok in various fornats. However I find after a few days (including turning TV/reciever to standby with CEC) it is outputting 2.0 to the receiver. This occurs with any multichannel format. If I force close the Emby app and reopen (and don't change any settings etc), it outputs to 5.1 again. If it isn't a known issue I'll aim to get logs when it happens again. Thanks. ebr 16182 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Hi. Sounds like an HDMI handshake issue. What may be happening is that the Chromecast is coming up before your Receiver is turned on. Be sure the receiver powers up first if possible.
Luke 42078 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
filski 5 Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 Thanks both! I'll try both approaches. I'll keep you updated over the next couple of weeks. 1
filski 5 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Have sideloaded and installed the standard Android app, but there is no option to unlock it. Premier menu just had the premier key option, no unlock option. I'm signed into same Google account as in my Android phone. Don't mind if I have to unlock again, just doesn't seem possible.
filski 5 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Thinking this through, is it even possible to unlock a sideloaded app, since it wouldn't have a link to Google Play? When are you planning on replacing the Android TV app with the standard Android one? Or at least expanding the list of supported devices for the standard app. Thanks, Philip

Probably the biggest stumbling block now is exactly how to handle this unlock issue between the two apps.
