roaku 842 Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 I used the server back up plugin to migrate servers and it seems to only include playback related data for Users. Does the User configuration data live somewhere I can copy from or will I have to manually recreate things like tag based blocking, library access, delete power, etc.
roaku 842 Posted September 26, 2022 Author Posted September 26, 2022 Ok, I found the data I'm interested in in config/users. Hopefully, it's just a matter of mapping the directories to the new user uuids...
Luke 42080 Posted September 27, 2022 Posted September 27, 2022 Quote tag based blocking, library access, delete power, etc. Hi, the normal backup and restore should take care of these. Let us know how you get on. Thanks.
roaku 842 Posted September 27, 2022 Author Posted September 27, 2022 After revisiting, this turned out to be user error. TLDR: I moved the user directory from where the Server Configuration plugin expected to find it. Long version: I did an initial migration with the plugin, but only had the one user created during the Emby setup wizard. So, I mapped my old user to this new user and made a mental note to come back and migrate the other users later. I then did a bunch of other general migration related things, one of which was restructuring parts of the local copy of the backup generated by the Server Config Plugin to match the actual directory structure of my new Emby installation. When it came time to revisit the secondary User migration, the 'userdata' folder was still in the right place in the backup directory, but the 'user' folder had been moved. So, the plugin could see and import userdata, but not the basic user configurations. So, my fault. But what tripped me up was not knowing that the migration feature couldn't re-create the users from the original server. It could only map them to existing users on the new install. 1
