beckfield 173 Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 (edited) My Emby server is on Linux Mint 20.3. I haven't opened the Emby website in several weeks. The last time I did, I didn't have any trouble access the server, browsing libraries, playing music. Today, I can still connect and play media via my nVidia Shield, but when I go to app.emby.media, it shows my server, but when I click on it, I get "Unable to connect to the selected server." One other thing: The landing page shows two servers - the one I'm using, and another that carries the old name of the server. Not sure why that's still there, or if it's a clue. I considered deleting it, but wanted to get advice first. I've been looking for instructions on reclaiming a server, but haven't found anything yet. The server is obviously running, but I'm baffled as to why I can't connect to it. Any advice appreciated. Edited September 13, 2022 by beckfield
Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 @beckfield can you try doing a new server connection and entering the server address manually? Please let me know how that compares. Thanks.
beckfield 173 Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 I clicked "Add Server" and tried the IP address shown on that page. It does the same thing, "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again."
Luke 42077 Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Are you using the https version of the emby web app at https://app.emby.media , or the http version? If you don't have SSL setup on your Emby Server, then you'll need to use the http version.
beckfield 173 Posted October 1, 2022 Author Posted October 1, 2022 (edited) I turned off Firefox's "HTTPS-Only" setting, and Emby is working again. I've been using the https version for years with no problem, but I do not have SSL. Is this a new thing? Edited October 1, 2022 by beckfield
Luke 42077 Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 It's starting to be, yes, and in the not so distant future it's going to be in Chrome as well: https://chromestatus.com/feature/5436853517811712
