Android TV -- App Lowers TV Brightness at End of Episode

When the app finishes playing an episode while at 100% brightness (or any number above 30%) and returns to the "Episode Info/Details" screen, the TV resets from 100% brightness to 30% brightness.

If the brightness is set at 0% brightness during the episode (or any number below 30%), the TV remains at 0% brightness at the "Episode Info/Details" screen.

 

Is there any reason it should/would be doing this?

Hi.  Do you have the option to switch frame rate/resolution turned on?  It could be due to switching video modes on the display.

I didn't think so, as there was never any flickering or pop-up on the TV indicating a change in resolution.

But after messing around with some settings I found the source of the problem: a setting called "LED Motion Clarity" (TCLs name for "Black Frame Insertion")

With "LED Motion Clarity" disabled on the TV, this issue no longer happens.
