mike3821 67 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 (edited) To start off, I'm only seeing this behaviour on the latest stable release of the Nvidia Shield app. - When I go to enable CC it will come back with "Unable to load subtitle". - I test on my phone, laptop, etc. It works fine, same channel, same everything. ebr 16169 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Hi. Is the phone transcoding while the Shield is direct streaming? If you use Playback Correction on the Shield to cause transcoding, does it work then?

ebr 16169 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 This is with Live TV? What is the channel and source? We have discovered there are certain types of closed captions that still do not work properly in some of the players.

mike3821 67 Posted September 6, 2022 Author Posted September 6, 2022 (edited) So I’m looking at a recording and subtitle won’t play, but on my iPhone it works. Edited September 6, 2022 by mike3821
mike3821 67 Posted September 6, 2022 Author Posted September 6, 2022 Using an external player vlc, subtitles work.
ebr 16169 Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 These are actually closed captions from Live TV, correct? As opposed to subtitle streams (srt, etc.) from ripped media.

So this looks like it's the android client issue. Edited September 7, 2022 by mike3821
Luke 42077 Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.

Tried a few channels and CC doesn’t work but it also doesn’t display an error.
Luke 42077 Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Hi, yes we've found there are some cases on android where Exoplayer does not detect closed captions, and we are looking into it. Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 Hi, can you please try this build and see how things compare? Thanks !
