Emby eating up all the memory till maxed out and then crashes.

Hi Luke

I have had this issues for a few weeks now. I tired starting with a fresh Emby install same problem. Then I tired going to latest beta which made the problem much better I haven't had it eat all the memory and crash in over a week but last night it happened again. I did find a few threads with similar issues and the problem being fixed in the latest beta which would explain why its much better with the latest beta.

Here is the log it starting eating memory around 22:00 till around 00:40 when it crashed.

Hi there, have you setup any photo libraries? There is an issue related to these that is resolved in the beta channel.

No photo libraries. 2 movie libraries 2 tv show libraries and 1 mixed content which just has random videos.

That's strange. I don't see anything obvious there. What time did the problem start?

@GFortune  - The graphic doesn't tell much. Do you have some statistics which show memory use per-process, i.e. which process is actually taking that much memory?

If it's caused by emby, then it's either the emby-server process itself or it could also be ffprobe or ffmpeg. In the latter two cases, it would be good to also know the command line which started that process.

Hmm, there are several way-too-huge ffmpeg processes and emby server process has 72GB. Something is going very wrong here...

Thought I would just chime in a bit here. I was seeing something similar after a fresh re-install of Windows 11 21H2 and a Server Backup Restore on the current public release using the plugin last weekend. Last few days EmbyServer was using pretty much all of my 48 GB of ram. Today came here to report it, but saw Luke's mention of the possible issue being resolved in the latest beta and I do have Photo Libraries. The beta version does seemed to have fixed my issue for me, so thanks gang. Best of luck squishing your issue GFortune!
