Rcharger96 1 Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 I am having playback stutter and buffering when playing TrueHD on direct play with Nvidia Shield Pro->Denon Receiver->LG C1 TV. My PC is my Emby server and the Shield is connected to a switch via ethernet cable. Dolby audio processing is disabled on the Shield. I am not having this playback error on Plex so I am assuming its an Emby setting I am missing somewhere? 8-28-2022 Server log.txt
ebr 16169 Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Hi. I'm not sure this is related to TrueHD. It sounds more like it is related to the high bitrate content. Is there an alternate audio track on this item? If so, does selecting it solve the issue?
Rcharger96 1 Posted August 28, 2022 Author Posted August 28, 2022 I get the same issue DTS-HD MA 7.1 again higher bitrate lossless audio. I can play AC3 (Dolby Digital) 5.1 ok it seems. I would hope the high bitrate would not be the issue as everything is connected via Cat6 cable and like I said I have no problem playing the same file on Plex and can seek and play wherever just fine.
ebr 16169 Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 Hi. If you are seeing "buffering" then that indicates data not coming in fast enough. I was referring to the bitrate of the video as opposed to the audio. Your example is a 90mb/s file which will need perfect network conditions to play smoothly probably. If anything in the chain is limiting to 100, then it would not play smoothly. 14 minutes ago, ebr said: Is there an alternate audio track on this item? If so, does selecting it solve the issue?
Rcharger96 1 Posted August 28, 2022 Author Posted August 28, 2022 The shield is pulling 872 mbps download so my in-home LAN is that or faster and the file is only 90mbps. Maybe I will try and delete the emby app from the shield and reinstall from the Play store. I think I originally sideloaded emby onto the shield when it was not available on the play store.
Rcharger96 1 Posted August 28, 2022 Author Posted August 28, 2022 Uninstalling emby and reinstalling from the Play Store seemed to do the trick. File is playing fine and able to seek wherever in the movie and plays instantly with no stutter. I should have just tried this from the start, thanks for the quick responses though. 1

That's very interesting. If this crops up again, try just a clear cache and data on the app and see if that has the same result. Thanks. 1
Tester 45 Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 (edited) I had this exact problem on Android TV ver 2.0.83, Shield TV 2019 Pro -> Soundbar Passthrough -> TV Uninstall and install from PlayStore with same results Playing the same videos using VLC works great Playing the same videos on another setup Shield 2017 -> TV audio, works great. For the heck of it I tried Android ver 3.2.82 and it works great. Any suggestions on how to get this to work on Android TV (preferred ) ? EDIT: 1G network running out of a NUC server EDIT: I sideloaded latest Android TV v 3.2.82 and now it works fine Edited November 1, 2022 by Tester So going forward how do I know when there is a new version available ? 1
Luke 42077 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 For video stuttering, please try Emby for Android 3.5.25 and let us know how that compares: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
