I use movie versions in this format: Avatar (2022) - Dubbed FHD.mp4 Avatar (2022) - Original FHD.mp4 I never used quality versions because I will always use the one that is bigger, in the case of FHD (I don't use 4K in remote emby, only in local emby) For me it works perfect and what I would really like to have in this sense is that when pausing the Avatar movie, the emby displays on Continue watching only the version that was paused and not both versions as is currently done. I don't see the point in having the 2 images on Continue watching because if I paused the Original version I won't ever want to continue watching in the Dubbed version, I don't see any sense in that. The same occurs with episodes (which are not in the same folder, but separated even in different libraries). When pausing the Dubbed episode, I would like to see on Continue watching only the Dubbed version and not both versions. Going a little off topic here, but in your use case wouldn't be better to have multiplexed the audio of the original and the dubbed version on the same file, that way you can select the audio track before playing or switch audio track in the middle of the movie. Your users can even select the personal preferences to the audio track they prefer.
Guest Posted March 28, 2023 Posted March 28, 2023 You're right and that would be perfect but I don't use dual audio in movies or episodes as that forces you to release the transcoding to all users which would cause the server to explode and stop playback. I use dual audio in the local emby and it works perfectly, but streaming is not feasible.
EFEris 6 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 @Luke do we have a chance to get editions better implemented soon?

Would think there are a lot of other feature that would have a much higher priority then editions. But never not the areas being worked on next but Smart List are supposed to be next. 1
gismo33 4 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 (edited) Hi @Luke, can I may ask the status of this? Since emby did support multi-version naming (LINK) for a long time, it would be really great if emby can support/understand the naming of plex (for all users which use both or want to switch etc). The current naming theme by emby must be (quote): Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ".If using the dash method anything following the dash will be what you see in the Emby client app. Can you implement a relaxed/alternative version/pattern recognition which ignore the folder name and scans for {edition-...} in the file, where <...> is the edition name? It should not be that hard because emby already support the pattern {...} just for ID tags like tmdb/tvdb/imdb ID's. emby naming: https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html Plex naming: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files/ Edited June 9, 2025 by gismo33
