strange368 1 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 I have just gotten into Emby as a disillusioned Plex user. I watch quite a bit of foreign media (anime and movies) but have noticed that subtitles don't seem to display well. When I have an .ass file, then it will display the text without any shadowed background (see first image.) However, when I try to download subtitles from the plugin or even add them manually to my library as .srt files, they end up with this very distracting shadowed background around the text (see second image). I have tried tirelessly to find a setting to disable this within the menu. Am I missing something or is this not a feature for .srt subtitles?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) @strange368 What are your Subtitle settings? User icon-App Setting-Subtitles Edited August 24, 2022 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Aren't there two more options on that page? (Background color, Background opacity)
strange368 1 Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 No that's all I see when I access the settings. The rest of the page is essentially blank (see screenshot.) I even have the Premier membership and it hasn't changed the settings. Not sure if it's because I'm using the browser version? Currently on Brave (up-to-date.)
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 @strange368 What server version are you on? Appearance section for 4.7.6.0 and beta 4.8.0.8
strange368 1 Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 I have the 4.6.7.0 version installed currently. It is installed through a Synology NAS DS920+ but I'm using the media through a browser/mobile app.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 Okay those options are not available in 4.6 except for maybe the online app. app.emby.media But dev will have to confirm that those options will control your issue. @Luke
strange368 1 Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 Got it figured out thanks to your help, though. Needed to do a manual refresh of the server since it had apparently updated. Now working fine! Thanks! 1
