Having problems with Emby not doing anything

Hi.

I am having the devils own time just now with Emby.  This is in no way a criticism of the program, it is without doubt all my own doing....here goes

For about a year I have successfully run Emby on my Linux mint computer with all the files stored on an 18tb external hard drive.  This system had worked flawlessly on a crappy old computer with minimal specs.  I joined Emby Premiere for 2 reasons.  One was the conversion feature (said crappy old computer was not powerful enough to play X265) and two, because I love the program and wanted to support the creators a little.

Recently I moved Emby to a bigger, more powerful computer and was even able to use the backup plugin to do so.  Yay me.

Then, the dog happened.  There was thunder and the dog ran, about a hundred miles an hour behind the TV stand bringing down TV/Computer/External Hard drive/speakers....all sorts of shit.  To avoid this happening again, I moved the computer with Emby server on it into the basement, along with the hard drive, and planned to watch TV on yet another old computer in the living room.  This is where my problems began.  Within days of moving the complete system into the basement, Linux died.  I don't know how, its a long story, (possibly dog related), but I had to re install it.  Now it is a fresh install of Linux Mint 20.3.  I had lost my previous Emby backup so opted for the long arduous task of starting from scratch.

About half way through scanning the files, it just sort of sits there.  I restarted Emby Server several times and each time it would not restart itself and I had to reboot the computer.  Now, it shows on the Emby home page, some of my media but no "latest" anything.  And it will not play anything at all.  I can click on....say the Comedy section up the top in "my media" but it will not load. It just sits there.  If I force a refresh while it is sitting there, it will indeed go into the comedy section, but shows nothing there.   Nothing loads.  I have no problem accessing the hard drive from other computers in the home, so I do not believe that is the issue.  In other words, I can watch stuff over the network without Emby (like a bloody peasant lol).

I did look at the logs and sadly it is all gibberish to me, but I have attached one for you guys to read.  This is 2 of the 14 logs currently in the Advanced section.

Although I do not pretend to know, nor can I read gibberish, I feel there is some kind of conflict going on.  On the old crappy computer I mentioned earlier, if Emby was doing more than one thing at once, for example playing a movie and scanning a library, it would behave similarly to how it is now.  The difference is that now it is not actually doing anything.

If anyone would be kind enough to help, please type slowly I am not that sharp.

Thanks guys.

No, nothing has changed in the paths.  I can understand how it may look that way, but perhaps Emby did its thing before the External HD had fully spun up?  Being an 18tb with a heap of stuff on it, it sometimes takes a minute.

Edit, Thank you!!

Have you tried restarting your Router?

Hi Luke.  I uninstalled and re installed Emby twice, each time seemed to bring new issues with it.  I do not like to be a bother and constantly ask what are probably silly questions to you guys, so after spending way too much time on it, I gave up.

I did sit here one evening trying to think how I could explain the things going wrong and what I had done to try and fix it, but in the end the frustration took over.

I am 100% certain beyond a shadow of doubt, that it is something I did and not Emby, which had been a dream up till this point.

When finances permit I will probably get a new computer and start again.  I suspect that will be a great help in solving the problems.

Thank you Luke and Happy2Play for trying to help, I appreciate it!

Hi, @cayars can jump on a TeamViewer session with you and take a look at what's going on.

@Paddyman I'd be happy to do a TeamViewer session with you to review the issues you're having and see what we can do to correct it.

I'll send you a private message to arrange a date/time for us to do this.

Hi Luke and cayars.  I have worked around this issue by installing a second Mint system on the computer being used.  I have Emby back up and running like a dream on it.  I don't know what went wrong on the other system, but it sure is working well now.

I thank you both for your offers of help and wish you well!

Cheers!
