2 copies of the same content

Hi,

Not sure if this belongs to here, but here goes:

I am converting my Star Trek Original series disks and so happens that there is the original version and the new HD  version and I want to keep both on Emby. At the moment I have two folders,

Star Trek TOS  and

Star Trek TOS (original)

where each has folders named Season 1 containing file names as below:

S0x E0y Name of episode

But, Emby only sees one of these folders and gives access to that content.

Is there a way, to perhaps have the two folders showing up on Emby, for example Season X and Season X (original)?

I'm not sure that's possible, but another option would be to put both versions in the same folder. Just name the HD version with [HD] at the end of the filename so you can tell which version is which in the episode version drop down list.

All you should have to do is change/disable the library setting.

Automatically merge series that are spread across multiple folders
If enabled, series that are spread across multiple folders within this library will be automatically merged into a single series.

Thank you both.

The setting is set and now I get it how it works. I can select different versions. 

I do not see this setting for movie genre. Can this be done for multiple versions of movies? Thus far I have two files of a movie, one with (theatrical) but they appear as two separate items.

Hi, they're probably being detected and merged. When you click into an episode is there a version selection box to choose an episode version?

Hi Luke, yes for episodes I now see version drop down.

My other question was on the same for movies

You can select both of them and then select Group Versions.

How do you have them both names though? And do you have them in the same folder?

If you are not using the same folder and naming scheme then  you have to manually group them or use the plugin.
