jhallin 0 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 For the last few weeks when I use the app and choose a channel or show playing on live TV (or recorded) it wont play. Just shows a black screen. When I open up mediabrowser settings it doesn't even appear to be opening a stream. Using ServerWMC backend.
jhallin 0 Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 Yes works fine when using web client and the Smart Player for Windows 8. Just seems to be the phone app won't play video. No loading bars, No buffering, just a blank screen until I force close the app after I ask it to open a stream.
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Is it particular programmes? Or is it always broken for live tv and recorded tv? Do other videos play? Any from your own movie collection?
Chuck 17 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 I'm experiencing the same problem. Nokia 920 (Lumia Cyan) Windows Phone 8.1. Media Browser Server Version 3.0.5395.0. ServerWMC Version: 1.0.0.42, build: 1167 Accessing via the phone Web Browser, no problem. Accessing via the Windows Phone App, nothing.
Chuck 17 Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 PS ... All other content in the Movies and TV collections work fine.
jhallin 0 Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 Update: I don't know exactly what happened. My ServerWMC updated (and maybe MBS?) but this morning it seems to be working great. But seeing as Chuck has my current version I will test when I get home to make sure it's not a fluke. Media Browser Server version 3.0.5395.0 ServerWMC version 1.0.0.42 build 1167
jhallin 0 Posted October 14, 2014 Author Posted October 14, 2014 Did some more testing. It looks like if I open the app and try to play Live TV right away, I get nothing (no progress bar, the server doesn't update to say I'm trying to pull content, nothing). However if I open the app, open a movie, I get the progress bar and the movie starts. If I then close the movie and navigate to Live TV, Live TV will then buffer and start playing (and server updates to show I'm streaming a TV channel). Once I exit the Live TV it says "do you want to close video player" on the app, I say yes, it stops, but the Server never does shut down the stream. I have to manually go into the server and click "restart" on that tuner to get it to stop the feed. Hopefully that helps narrow down the cause of this bug, let me know if you want me to try anything else out. Anxiously awaiting an update to allow streaming quality as well
Chuck 17 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 By following your example above, starting a movie from the movie collection, then stopping it, then going back to LiveTV, I am able to start a live tv stream. However, if I go back and select another channel, I receive the stream from the originally selected channel.
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Once I exit the Live TV it says "do you want to close video player" on the app, I say yes, it stops, but the Server never does shut down the stream. I have to manually go into the server and click "restart" on that tuner to get it to stop the feed. This will be fixed in the next release. I'm not sure though if this is the cause of the original bug you're seeing.
twos50 9 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Was this this fixed in ServerWMC version 1.0.0.52 build 1175 and MB3 Version 3.0.5445.6??? Because Live TV is still not playing in Windows phone nor Windows 8.1 App. However it will play using the steps explaind by jhallin up above and still behaves like Chuck explained from above as well.

ScottIsAFool 517 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Sure. Go to the about page (from the main page, tap the app bar, go to about), then swipe across to logs and tap the email logs button. If it doesn't launch your email client, clear the logs, then try watching live tv again, then try sending the logs again.

szimat 6 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 @@ScottIsAFool I'm bouncing up this thread, as I have similar problems with the WP8 app and LiveTV. Platform: Linux, Ubuntu Server Trusty 14.04 LTS (Kernel 3.19.0-22-generic on x86_64). Emby Server: Version 3.0.5675.1 Windows Phone: Version 8.0.67.1 I'm using VDR client plugin, located at: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/21231-vdr-plugin-development/ From browser (Firefox 39.0; 3.0.5675.1) it is working very nice. I select the channels, and the stream starts. I can also playback recordings. It is a great work and experience. I do have a limited hw for server, so transcoding is limiting me to lower quality streaming, but everything working as expected. However, it is not working on my WP8.1 phone (Lumia 520). I can playback tv shows, movies, music, and I would say it is working fine, but if I start live tv, I get the problem already described in this thread, I just got a black screen in player, no progress bar, nothing. Strange is, that occasionally I managed to get a live stream on my phone, but that is very random and just a few times. And it is buffering and stopping within few seconds, and the playback is very bad (compared to desktop running Windows7 and Firefox). I'm on very good wifi and gigabit lan, none of these should be a problem (not that LAN matters in case of phone). Starting a movie first, and trying live tv after doesn't help either. I have sent the logs, perhaps they are of help. I'm here to test if required. A sidenote: it would be great if more streaming profiles would be available in wp app, for 720p the lowest is 5Mpbs, perhaps add a lower value here? Just as for 480p, maybe a lower value from 720Kbps would be good to have.

Thanks for confirming the bug, now I know it is not my setup's fault. Just curious, what is the bug about? If you need a new beta tester, I'm glad to help with beta/dev WP8 aps testing for livetv.

If you need a beta tester, let me know, I'm glad to join! Same issue here. I am running Windows Phone 10 preview build. I also have tried the ServerWMC plugin as well as the new native HDHomeRun setup in the lastest Emby beta. Both refuse to stream to Windows Phone. Other clients are working well. Glad to do anything to help find a fix.
