Library display settings / Show Fields issue

Recommended Posts

In my web browser, I am customizing my library display settings by going to "Show Fields" and I have chosen Title, Year and Resolution. It works immediately BUT whenever I log out, reboot, etc, when I log back in to Emby the "Resolution" disappears and the file defaults to unchecked. Any help appreciated.

Hi, sounds like something is clearing your browsing data. If you can resolve that, then that should resolve your issue.

Does anything clear your browser history on exit?

Here are my current Chrome settings on exit.

Which exit setting would I have to change in order to preserve the Emby settings? Data or browser history? I would guess data, although I guess the cookies will pile up.

Not positive but believe you have to add your site here.

I added Emby to the sites that can always use cookies but unfortunately that didn't fix it.

Do I have to change my exit settings?

What did you add as I just tested adding localhost and it did not clear anything when I closed chrome?

@musicmafia It should be app.emby.media or [*.]emby.media like the example.  Emby.media is this website.  This assumes you are using Connect ie the online web client otherwise you need to add your LAN connection.

@Happy2Play Thanks, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I think we've established in other threads that I don't know what I'm doing LOL.

I did add app.emby.media. It won't let me add any characters like [*] in the example, so I'm not sure what that means. Anyway, it's still not working.

When I sign in to Emby in my Chrome browser it says localhostXXXX/web/index.html if that helps.

So you have to add localhost to the list as it is defendant of your connection method.

@Happy2Play I typed in localhost like you have above and it's still not working. Do I need to copy/paste the whole localhostXXXX/web/index.html and add the whole address?

So far none of this does the trick:

Not sure then as I can open and close the browser and not lose any settings with localhost and/app.emby.media added to that list.

I even unticked the clear on close and rebooted my machine and it STILL only shows title and date when I reopen the browser. I'm stumped.

@musicmafia If  you disabled the browser setting and restarted the browser and it still loses setting that would suggest you have another program clearing this data.

Are you actually browsing in Private/Incognito?

@Happy2Play No, I'm not in incognito or private mode but I am looking through my extensions now to see if anything there might be clearing it....

@Happy2Play Finally!!!! Sure enough, I had added an extension a while back that clears data on closing! I had forgotten all about it. Thanks for all time helping me troubleshoot!
