aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) Hi, I recently had my old win7 machine fail me and have purchased a new machine as an upgrade over the old and to be a bit more energy efficient - it is an intel i7 NUC, 32Gb ram, 1Tb SSD, rtx2060 chip (shared ram) with win11 pro installed. I installed Emby server fresh and had it scan the folder files to remake the movie library etc.. I also have my library on a separate Synology NAS that connects via ethernet through a switch. The problem I'm encountering is that the server seems to be unresponsive from time to time. I cannot access it through the PC's chrome browser or the Xbox app on the shield until I either restart the server or the PC. My father-in-law also experiences this remotely on his browser whereby he cant access the library or he starts a movie and then is stops and freezes. I've never encountered this when on win7 machine. Is this an issue with WIN11 pro or some other setting that I am missing in the new machine running the server? Any assistance appreciated :). Happy to give access to admin here if it helps? Cheers John Edited August 8, 2022 by aussiedropbear notes about NAS

Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 @aussiedropbear One from the time the server became unresponsive, When Emby become unresponsive are there any Resource issues on the host machine?
aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 I think this may be a log when it decided to stop for the remote session my father in law was using. thanks John ffmpeg-transcode-6edae86f-3b19-4463-b72c-14c4ed7f6c4a_1.txt

aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 Around the time of the log I first put up.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 That server log if for before the playback ffmpeg log. Can you post the server log for the same time frame.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 @aussiedropbear that log ends at 2022-08-08 13:25:55.158 but the playback ffmpeg log starts at 2022-08-08 13:43:18.070 almost 20 minutes later. I would guess the top log from that image.

aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 10, 2022 Author Posted August 10, 2022 Hi, Here is a recent one from this morning. I was trying to play a movie via chrome on the NUC PC and it gets 50 seconds in and then stops? I've zipped the two logs up as it wouldn't let me upload due to size. Thanks John ffmpeg-remux-b3b3567a-e549-47fb-84ec-e07b113d6b5f_1.zip
aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 Hi, so no idea on what may be going on or is it a case of I haven't supplied the correct logs?
Luke 42077 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 As a test, if you turn off hardware transcoding in server transcoding settings, how does that compare?

aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 To be honest, I'm totally confused by what is going on. After turning off hardware transcoding it seemed to be ok but today after accessing it once to see if I could play anything I now can't even connect to the Emby server? I've exited the program and started it back up as the restart function didn't seem to do anything. I now cant access the the server. only way to fix it is to restart the PC once more. So lost on this :(.
Luke 42077 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Quote but today after accessing it once to see if I could play anything I now can't even connect to the Emby server? What happens when you try?
aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 24 minutes ago, Luke said: What happens when you try? Nothing. I tried left click on the server icon in the right hand tray and browse library and it would even open Chrome? Tried a manual type in the browser and nothing happens? After a PC reboot its working now. I'm just wondering if its something about the NUC PC that is preventing it from maintaining its function to be accessible, stay alive so to speak.
aussiedropbear 1 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 update. Just now I tried to go back to the home screen after looking at the logs and the background in chrome is white. It is displaying the four My Media folders but I cant access them. Down the bottom left corner its showing 'Waiting for local host' and the browser tab has a spinning circle.
Luke 42077 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 That's really strange. @cayars can jump on a TeamViewer session with you and help get you squared away. Thanks !

Carlo 4561 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Hi, I'm on the East Coast, same time zone as NY City. Hover over my profile pic and you'll see options for messaging. Send me a private message with a time (my time) you'd like to do this. I'm doing support right now for a couple people in China & Australia and then I'm going to try and get an hour powernap in. Any time after 8am my time should be fine. Download and install TeamViewer if you don't have it already. Then about 15 minutes prior to our scheduled time send me the login ID and one-time use session password. Do you notice this same thing if you access the server from a different PC or device? Do you have any windows logging turned on to track resource usage?
