?  Nobody said that - the original poc 'worked', the examples in this thread 'worked', a few have attempted 'front ends' - but all are working around a common problem in that the clients are depending on the server to control/sync them - this needs to be client/heartbeat/control driven and for that, we need the Core to add the functionality.

Maybe someone with interest in this project and the required development skills could volunteer, and Team Emby could have him/her sign a NDA and do the work?

So many resources and requests freely available to the Emby team and they just turn a blind eye to it. Dissapointing to a PAYING user.

It's a bit disappointing that after all these years, not even an early prototype of this feature has been released, considering the fact that jellyfin and plex support this feature quite well.

Is this feature a very low priority? Or is it very tricky to implement?

It's time for the emby team to show something.

I’d like this feature adding at some point also. It’s a nice to have, not a must have for me personally.  

As to why it’s not done yet, I suspect it’s prioritized lower than other features due to the feature request post being liked by a relatively small community group and when considered against technical complexity, risk to introduce breaking changes and forecasted revenue impact. 
 

to increase priority in the backlog, you could help get additional likes to the feature request, or provide objective data re revenue impact due to lost subscribers or potential new subscribers.

This will probably never happen been talked about for years. Just use Kodi next gen watch party’s work perfect. Me and 3 of my buddies do fear feast every October we do one horror movie a night for 30 days

I do think it would be helpful to give a bit more info about this kind of thing in general though. e.g. 'this feature is planned for future updates but unfortunately there's a lot of things in the list above it', or 'this feature is planned for future updates and the good news is its nearly at the top', or 'this feature is planned for future updates and its near the top but there's a few biggies in the way which will take a while'.

Who really want this?  You’re in the minority. They have larger issues like no Dolby vision and a bunch of other issues with the appletv client.   Hopefully this one never comes.  You’re also posting in the plug-in forum not feature request.

Does this feature work with plex on Roku. Emby claims they can’t issue remote commands to Roku so how would they be able to keep the videos in sync, so wondering if plex does.

A lot of people want this, you can solve your AppleTV client issue by simply getting a better playback device like an Nvidia Shield.

no one wants watch together if they couldn’t release it when it was “in” back in 2020 no point in 2025. They don’t care about competing with plex. If they did they would have working clients.

I do use plex now.  Really didn't / don't want to but Emby leaves no other choice.  Other apps on Roku have watch together features as well.  There was a nearly working instance of it here but the dev stated it would need access into Emby the plugins don't have.

I have 3 shields in my house and all have 0 issues. Guess you got bad luck or just an apple fan boy in denial.
