Emby server won't start after update to 4.7.5.0 (linux Mint)

Hi there. I have updated my Emby Server from version 4.6.4.0 to 4.7.5.0 - unfortunately after update the server won't start. I've searched this community but couldn't find any related topic. I was trying to reinstall and even revert to the older version but the service simply won't start. I am attaching the log files. Maybe someone will be able to help please as I am not a very experienced Linux user and run out of ideas what to do.

Immediately after update there was some access denied (log files) error which I think I have fixed - or perhaps made thinks works, I don't know. I am attaching log files for reference.

Hi, is any server log file generated by 4.7? These log files appear to be from 4.6. Thanks.

Hi Luke, thank you for the quick reply. That's the only embyserver logs I found in /var/lib/emby/logs. There are ffmpeg and hardware_detection logs as well if you want, I can share these as well, but their timestamps are also for the time before the update. Every time I try to start the server (systemctl start emby-server) the new log file is generated by it contains just two lines, so they all look exactly the same as the 145 B file I shared.

Cheers

Try to start the server again, then share the output from:

systemctl status -l emby-server

ls -l /var/lib/emby/logs

The last 20 lines (if that many) of:

grep emby-server /var/log/messages

Thanks. I run the commands and here is the output:

gomulius@gomulius-linux:~$ sudo systemctl start emby-server
gomulius@gomulius-linux:~$ systemctl status -l emby-server

It looks like you were running Emby as user gomulius before the update? Either that or you chowned the emby app data tree to that user.

Your options are to change one of the two:

1. run as gomulius.

2. chown app data to emby.

I recommend the second option but don't know the reasons for the current state.

Gents, thanks to your suggestions I have managed to fix users permissions using this command:

sudo chown -R emby:emby /var/lib/emby/ [where emby is a name of the user as well as a group]

The server is up and running.

THANK you very much for pointing me into the right direction - much appreciated!
