skoog 1 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I did an update to newest version and i lost all. All movies , series and so on is gone. There is probebly 5000+ movies and series/episodes on the server. Last time i updated i lost all music and audiobook files and had to redo all that again. Why dont the new versions use the old "database"? Also emby choose the wrong info on some movies , that is fine when you add like 10-20 movies/day. But now i have to rescan everything and check all movies one by one. Is there a way to get it all back?
skoog 1 Posted July 24, 2022 Author Posted July 24, 2022 Now i cant choose any of my folders. What is this??????
FrostByte 5392 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 Did you by chance also upgrade to DSM 7? Please post any server logs.
skoog 1 Posted July 25, 2022 Author Posted July 25, 2022 Yes i did. All logs are gone to. Everything is gone , users , premiumkey , all. I got it working again , i rescanned all folders. But many came back with the wrong info , i know this would happend but it will take long time to fix. Also emby will not show all episodes in a season. There can be 15 episodes but only 1 shows up. I tryed to rescann , but it dosent help. Renamed the files and rescann , dident help. Restarted the Nas , dident help. Any ideas?
Luke 42077 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 What exactly does show up? What exactly doesn't? Can you please provide an example? How are your files named and organized?
FrostByte 5392 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 It sounds like you need to copy your files from the old location to the new and also set the shared folder permissions in the new way. Take a look at the migration instruction in the first post of link below. Everything from where it says to enable the Admin account to include the putty commands and using the new system internal emby user for your shares.
DiabboVerdde 5 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 I tried to install Synology's x86_64 package for 4.7.5.0 (emby-server-synology_4.7.5.0_x86_64.spk) I got from the official website and when I try to install it it shows an error message saying I need at least 7.0 40000. I'm using 7.1.42661 so it seems there's a bug on the installer.

How are your files named and organized? First i have a emby folder. Inside that there is a moviefolder westernfolder warmoviefolder seriesfolder (tv shows and so on) In thease folders there is subfolders for each series for example. And if there is more than 1 season there is a season 1 folder and season 2 folder and so on. Here you can see what is in the folder and what shows up in emby.

You're trying to install the file for DSM 6. Click the other DSM link and download this file emby-server-synology7_4.7.5.0_x86_64.spk 1
skoog 1 Posted July 25, 2022 Author Posted July 25, 2022 Found some info in another thread about file name. When i change name from 1e02 - Dark angel........ (if you look in picture above ) to S01e02 - Dark angel........ it works , emby finds it. But the file has always been named that way and in older versions of emby it worked. File and info was found by emby.

But the file has always been named that way and in older versions of emby it worked If you look at KB article: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming Quote Episode naming conventions A number of naming conventions are supported: show name - S01E01 - Episode Name.ext show name S01E01 Episode Name.ext anything_s01e02.ext anything_s1e2.ext anything_s01.e02.ext anything_s01_e02.ext anything_1x02.ext anything_102.ext anything_1x02.ext 02 Episode Name.ext s01e02.ext 1x02.ext that naming convention was never officially supported, so if it was working for you it might've just been an exploit you found (as there were some others as well) that over time got plugged. Your best course of action would be to follow one of the recommended conventions, going forward. Edited July 25, 2022 by GrimReaper 2
Carlo 4561 Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Hi, Just to be clear on one point FrostByte mentioned, if you updated DSM from 6 to 7 you must follow our migration steps here: If you do not perform the migration step specifically how they are documented then you are starting completely over with a fresh system on DSM 7. DSM 7.x uses new security layers, different users for apps and security access as well as different locations for parts of the app. No amount of playing with configs or installing different versions of software will get your old system operational again without following the migration steps above. If you've already upgraded your NAS to DSM 7.x you likely skipped a couple steps that will make the upgrade slightly trickier. But as long as you haven't touched or messed with the original DSM 6 setup still on your NAS the migration can still be done. You can uninstall Emby Server from Package Manager on the NAS then follow the migration instructions from the steps starting right after the DSM upgrade. DO NOT IMPROVISE on the instructions but follow them exactly as instructed. As long as your DSM 6 version of Emby is intact and not touched you can rerun the migration again. With that said, if you like, we can assist you with the migration remotely. I've got well over 200 of these done remotely at this point with a 100% success rate (hope I didn't jinx myself). Feel free to try this yourself first following the directions. If you hit any problems, instructions look to complex, your environment is different then shown in the examples or you tried it but didn't work, reach out to me with a private message and we'll setup a remote support session to assist you with the migration. You can send me a private message easily by hovering over my avatar to access messages. Carlo

Turns out I have two Synology boxes, an older one running DSM 6 and the newer one running DSM 7.1 and I tried to use the same installer for both. Nice catch, thanks for the assist here! 1
Luke 42077 Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 @skoog are you still having an issue with this?
