Ratatouille 14 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 To start I was running linuxserver/emby:latest I wanted to try beta again since lately it had issue with transcoding and wanted to see the progress so I went to linuxserver/emby:beta as soon I started Emby, I went to the transcoding section and I lost all the vaapi/quicksync but nvdec/cuvid was still working furthermore it says the beta was not the latest version. Since I knew linuxserver/emby is always behind the official emby/embyserver, I switched in case quicksync would have been resolved. So after rebooting well no more transcoding whatsoever. I try to go back to linuxserver/emby:latest impossible was getting at Emby.Server.Implementations.Logging.SimpleLogManager.ReloadLogger(LogSeverity severity, CancellationToken cancellationToken) InnerException: System.IO.IOException: Permission denied So I to changed the name in appdata for my emby directory and now just rebuilding the whole database again ! _emby_logs(1).txt
Luke 42078 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Hi, how exactly did you switch? Did you start fresh ?
Ratatouille 14 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 (edited) No, that is the point I may try again in few days from fresh hopefully I would get better results in the meantime I am rebuilding my linuxserver/emby:latest so if something goes wrong I would be able to go back easily just by changing my Emby config directory I will use different name for them! Still curious about transcoding section differences Edited July 15, 2022 by Ratatouille
Luke 42078 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 OK we haven't tested going back and forth between them, but looking at the error message it looks like the server is being denied write access to the /config directory. If you can resolve that either in docker container options or the host OS, then that may resolve this.
Ratatouille 14 Posted July 22, 2022 Author Posted July 22, 2022 (edited) I recreated Emby in a separate directory under new name for emby/embyserver and in this case definitely no more hardware transcoding. no vaapi no Nvidia! Going back to linuxserver/emby everything is working agaiin What is up with that? hardware_detection-63794083304.txt Edited July 22, 2022 by Ratatouille
