Me again, I am getting frustrated with Emby ...

Yesterday my internet was down, I choose to watch a movie on Emby, but the experience was horrible !

Lagg like crazy, only low resolution movie pass, nothing HD or UHD.

The processor in my UNRAID server goes 100% !!!!

Please note, I never add this problem before I update my UNRAID server, and re-install Emby after a tons of problems (see my other posts).

Same hardware, same LAN, same players (LG tv, or my main PC)

Since you're burning in subtitles, try turning those off prior to playback and see how that compares.

The ffmpeg log was cut off so don't know the overall converted bitrate but bitrate doubling happens converting 79Mb HEVC to almost max 140Mb.

-c:v:0 libx264 -g:v:0 180 -maxrate:v:0 139808000 -bufsize:v:0 279616000

So if you set the client to a lower playback quality do you get the same result?

Did you see this?

@Luke  My hardware acceleration is enabled in Chrome, The LG tv don't have the option.

@Happy2Play  Watch my YouTube video, you will see lower the resolution or bitrate do not change much of the playback

What can I help you guys, what do you need ?

Then here is a movie I cannot playback

I found why my movie are RIP in HEVC (H265), because these movies are HDR, other non-HDR are RIP with H264.

NOW THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION :

I ordered an new graphic card for the UNRAID server GTX1660Ti

https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-tuf-gtx1660ti-o6g-ev/p/N82E16814126538?Item=9SIAWKTHU71967

With this card, can I enable the hardware transcoding for Emby and fix the problem ?

I don't want to re-encoding all HDR movies, which I don't know how many ...

doing some test and find that ...

Playing the 4K movie 1917 (H264) in 4K120Mbps run the processor at 10% ... GREAT !

But playing the same movie at lower than 4K80Mbps run the processor at 90/100% ... WEIRD !!!

Hi.  Because your server is converting it to the lower bitrate on the fly.
