zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Me again, I am getting frustrated with Emby ... Yesterday my internet was down, I choose to watch a movie on Emby, but the experience was horrible ! Lagg like crazy, only low resolution movie pass, nothing HD or UHD. The processor in my UNRAID server goes 100% !!!! Please help me find what is wrong ...
Luke 42079 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 here is the server log from Emby during 4k movie playing (processor 100%) embyserver.txt
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 here is more infos logs during Low res movie (processor 50%) ffmpeg-transcode-dfc4f138-5569-4d9f-be28-ece95edc5de4_1.txt embyserver.txt logs while 4K movie (100% processor) ffmpeg-transcode-51ce1d97-1390-4c7f-af43-1eced2311c11_1.txt embyserver.txt
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 I downgrade the playback to 480p1mbps, processor run at 98%, still choppy
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 Please note, I never add this problem before I update my UNRAID server, and re-install Emby after a tons of problems (see my other posts). Same hardware, same LAN, same players (LG tv, or my main PC)
Luke 42079 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Since you're burning in subtitles, try turning those off prior to playback and see how that compares.
Luke 42079 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 On the video detail screen prior to clicking play.

zfrenchy 12 Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 I guess help is in the East coast ... I am in California ... next episode tomorrow ...
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 The ffmpeg log was cut off so don't know the overall converted bitrate but bitrate doubling happens converting 79Mb HEVC to almost max 140Mb. -c:v:0 libx264 -g:v:0 180 -maxrate:v:0 139808000 -bufsize:v:0 279616000 So if you set the client to a lower playback quality do you get the same result?
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 16, 2022 Author Posted July 16, 2022 @Luke My hardware acceleration is enabled in Chrome, The LG tv don't have the option. @Happy2Play Watch my YouTube video, you will see lower the resolution or bitrate do not change much of the playback What can I help you guys, what do you need ?
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 16, 2022 Author Posted July 16, 2022 I was able to playback a 4k Movies 120Mbps here the media info Then here is a movie I cannot playback
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 16, 2022 Author Posted July 16, 2022 I found why my movie are RIP in HEVC (H265), because these movies are HDR, other non-HDR are RIP with H264. NOW THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION : I ordered an new graphic card for the UNRAID server GTX1660Ti https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-gtx-1660-ti-tuf-gtx1660ti-o6g-ev/p/N82E16814126538?Item=9SIAWKTHU71967 With this card, can I enable the hardware transcoding for Emby and fix the problem ? I don't want to re-encoding all HDR movies, which I don't know how many ...
zfrenchy 12 Posted July 16, 2022 Author Posted July 16, 2022 doing some test and find that ... Playing the 4K movie 1917 (H264) in 4K120Mbps run the processor at 10% ... GREAT ! But playing the same movie at lower than 4K80Mbps run the processor at 90/100% ... WEIRD !!!
