isamudaison 12 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I'm in-process of building a new transcoding server equipped with a core i5 12500T (e.g. the low power variant), and I'm having some issues I'm assuming is related to intel driver version and/or kernel version. I'm hoping this is just a 'oh yea, you need version xyz' answer, but here's what I'm seeing: (hardware detect log included) VAAPI shows up as 'some' options in hardware transocde. *NO* QSV devices show up Actually attempting to transcode using vaapi just results in a crash after a couple seconds. I am running emby in a docker container and all the permissions, etc should be fine; I run a jellyfin docker container and all the HW transcode detection/functionality works 100%. I'm running guc mode 3 (although it doesn't seem to matter, as the kernel 'does the right thing' with this gen of IGD, it seems). I'm running Ubuntu server 22.04, with all the intel media drivers/igc/gmm/etc straight from the ubuntu repo, not intel's. Any initial thoughts? I found it odd that jellyfin had no issues and emby seems lost (could be due to the docker base image differences, though). hardware_detection-63792871663.txt
Luke 42078 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Hi there, please attach the emby server log as well. Thanks.
isamudaison 12 Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 Additional logs: crashed transcode on HDR10 2160P hevc file Note that this same file plays just fine using my old skylake (UHD630) emby instance, using QSV. ffmpeg-transcode-7d39c63b-4276-4a3a-a2b9-c444312de2d4_1.txt
isamudaison 12 Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) I've also confirmed this issue w/ linuxserver.io's image as well... telltale sign of not resolving the hardware name device might indicate something on the docker side is "out-of-date" ? `VAAPI Device 32902:18064 - MPEG-2` Whereas my skylake instance shows: `VAAPI HD Graphics 630 - MPEG-2` (in addition to the QSV variant) Edited July 8, 2022 by isamudaison
