Upgraded Quality of Movie(s) and Poster Art Gets Replaced

I have recently been upgrading the quality of many movies in my collection and even though I have Metadata locked Emby is replacing the poster art after finding a new/different media file. Is there a way to prevent this?

Mini Rant: themoviedb has for some reason decided that all movie poster art (regardless of age) should be "sterile" and the posters that get chosen by Emby is usually their version with all the actors and credits photoshopped off of them. I have carefully replaced hundreds if not thousands with original versions of each poster (and in hundreds and hundreds of instances uploaded them to themoviedb) so that's why I would like for Emby to retain the existing poster art that is saved in each movie's folder.

Please go over a specific example to include media and image naming.

But have never had a image replaced when changing/upgrading media.

Original media file was: beat girl (1960).avi
New media file is: Beat.Girl.1960.720p.BluRay.x264-SPOOKS.mkv

The image file was poster.jpg as named by Emby and that file was replaced with another poster.jpg file but with different artwork (from themoviedb).

I know this was one that was replaced because as you can see I uploaded the one on the right to themoviedb.

Is there a nfo file also?  But sounds like the new naming causes a completely new lookup.

I always replace with exact same name as it will not recreate a conflict with previous metadata.  If same name is not used I personally would expect issues as it is a different item.

But will test this example.

Each file/movie has it's own nfo file. I have been using Radarr to manage my quality upgrades and it looks like when a movie is replaced the previous nfo file gets replaced, I don't know if Radarr is removing the previous nfo or Emby is replacing it.

I thought if you had the poster art saved in to the same folder as the media files thaen they did not get overwritten by emby.  I had this same problem until I had emby set to save art files into the the individual media folders.

Oh, and I agree with you...."sterile" album art is HORRIBLE and I myself spend many hours getting the proper movie posters for my collection.  Considering your example, you must be old like me.  LOL

Well I don't believe it is Emby as the nfo should be the filename making these different items.

As then items cannot be equal, but don't know the update process that happens with Radarr.

How do you get both "poster.jpg" and (in this case) "Buster (1988).720p.BluRay.x264-SPOOKS-poster.jpg"? Is there a setting somewhere in Emby?

Comes from having more than one movie in the folder.

This is actually not a emby problem but a problem with radarr. When upgrading a movie it removes all files in the folder. I've looked for a way to prevent this from happening but doesn't seem to be possible right now in radarr.

Thanks for the information, appreciate it.
