HWDYFI 0 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Hi Casting works from phone to chromecast if emby server is at the same wlan (Local Area Network) network. But if link is shared over public internet it does not work. I can watch movies from my phone everywhere where is internet, mobile or wlan but casting is not working. I would recommend changing app (if possible) so that chromecast application would use same public url as phone is using (https://plaa.plaa.plaa:8920). Phone would transfer these settings to casting device which would use those. At the moment it is not working. Possible?

Luke 42083 Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Hi, Chromecast is supported over remote connections. Quote so that chromecast application would use same public url as phone is using (https://plaa.plaa.plaa:8920) We already do this. What kind of SSL certificate do you have? Chromecast may be rejecting your SSL cert.
HWDYFI 0 Posted July 6, 2022 Author Posted July 6, 2022 Hi, thanks for quick reply, it is open ssl certificate, it is self signed. Is this causing problems?

Luke 42083 Posted July 9, 2022 Posted July 9, 2022 @HWDYFI there's another problem that could be happening here if the server thinks your casting device is inside your local network, rather than outside. This could be caused by reverse proxy configuration. Can you do a test to try and figure this out? From the casting device, go into they Emby app's playback settings, set the playback quality settings all to auto. Then try to play any video with a bitrate higher than 3 mbps. Then please attach the emby server log after that. For this test you should be playing directly on the casting device without opening a casting session to Chromecast. Thanks !
HWDYFI 0 Posted July 24, 2022 Author Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) I will try, but i need additional internet connection first. As you told system uses wlan or lan otherwise, so i need make a visit to some friend and do the test in there. I use emby with my phone so if it want to use chromecast i need wlan connection for that. And it can't be same than network where emby server is. Otherwise it uses lan connection. So i need additional wlan network for this test. Phone do not find chromecast if it is not in the same wlan network than chromecast. Edited July 24, 2022 by HWDYFI
Luke 42083 Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 OK please let us know once you're able to test this. Thanks !
