Dziactor 1 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 I've been updating the Tags with MP3Tag for my audiobook collection. They keep getting reverted back to how Emby imported them. The only thing I can think of is that Emby is trying to download and update the tags and overwrites when I change them. For now, i'm making the files read only. Trying to see if there is a better solution. Them getting changed back after doing it for hours is gotten a bit frustrating...
Luke 42080 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
Dziactor 1 Posted July 3, 2022 Author Posted July 3, 2022 Sure. I had a book and the Author was A.F. Kay. I used Mp3tag to use the audible information to update all the tags and cover. About 5 minutes later it it would revert back to how it was originally tagged. I even tried to Manually retag the authors name. That would take for a few minutes then revert back. Tried this many times. The only thing preventing it is to make the file read only. I would rescan library a few times to see if the changes propagated in Emby and they would just go back.
Luke 42080 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 What exactly reverted and where? Can you show screenshot examples? Thanks.
Dziactor 1 Posted July 3, 2022 Author Posted July 3, 2022 Just got home. I had used Mp3Tag to update this hours ago. Image 1 shows it now. Image 2, I just updated it again and made sure to save it. 2 minutes later and I reopened it and the information is all gone again.

Hi, this has nothing to do with Emby Server because Emby Server never changes your audio files or writes embedded metadata back into them. Are you sure you're saving properly with MP3 Tag?
Dziactor 1 Posted July 5, 2022 Author Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) I am. I did a few things to make sure it wasn't Emby and I think your right. I uninstalled iTunes and MusicBrainz Picard and Disabled Readarr. I also moved the audiobooks over to my synology so now only Emby sees where they are stored. Now the saved Metatags aren't being removed. I just don't know what program was messing with them. Edited July 5, 2022 by Dziactor
