enqbcvqw 3 Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 Hello! I copied emby from one server to another one to play around with some things without disrupting my main server (I didn't want to have to rescan all the media and such). That worked, but now it looks like the server ID got copied over and changing the name does not change the ID so now Emby connect appears to be freaking out a bit (it just shows me the initial screen with servers and does not actually log me into the server unless I manually add credentials). Is there a way to fix this? I looked around the config files but didn't find anywhere to change it.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2022 Posted June 27, 2022 @enqbcvqw You need to shutdown the second server and delete the device.txt file as that is the generated serverid, and start server to generate a new one. Don't know your systems folder structure, but you will see Data Path in the top section of a server log. This file is in the same data folder as your library.db.
enqbcvqw 3 Posted June 27, 2022 Author Posted June 27, 2022 (edited) How did I miss this file!? Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I'm actually playing around with moving the server to a fresh instance (no users or config) while keeping metadata and libraries. So far not doing too hot but that's what experimenting is for. EDIT: copying over /path/to/emby/(metadata|data|root) seems to work. Delete device.txt and users.db* to get rid of users. Then install emby/run from container and follow the wizard. You end up with a new instance but get to keep the metadata and library structure, as long as paths match it works. Edited June 27, 2022 by enqbcvqw
AngelOfTheOdd 6 Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Soo... fyi, for anyone else that comes across this. deleting device.txt appears to drop your Premiere license. Make sure you backup device.txt if you play around with this and have Premiere.

I guess technically it would be Remove Key then Readd Key. Edited October 19, 2022 by Happy2Play
AngelOfTheOdd 6 Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Yup, reapplying the license key worked. Just caught me off guard a bit when it dropped licensing.
