I'm getting this error every time I play a video on my Shield, when it happens the playback pauses for a while (< a minute) and then it continues. So far it hasn't happened when I play it on my computer through my browser.

Hi, this is not an error. Why do you think that?

Yeah, you're right.  I have a bad habit on blaming software when I'm having issues, but I think my router has been the source of my frustrations recently.

Could you please explain what this info message means and what the potential causes are? Because I'm having a similar problem. Not me personally, but a remote user. The playback just stops 30 to 60 minutes in the movie. Then the loading circle appears and it doesn't go away.

I've found a handful of threads in this forum, all with the same lines from the log files, but none of them provided any solutions. If it's not an Emby specific problem, I would like to find out at least on which side (client, server, router) I should search for the problem.

This is the relevant part of the log:

Bumping this just a little..

Would really like to know, what triggers this specific info message about the session gone idle.

For example stops playback by just turning off the TV without actually stopping the video in the Emby app. There's no explicit stop there so the server has to use it's own means to figure out that the client isn't active anymore.

Ok, but that's not what happened. I witnessed it myself. The movie was running, and suddenly it stopped, and a loading animation showed up. And it stayed like this for at least 5 minutes, before I manually canceled it. And the protocol then showed this idle message every time, the exact second when it happened.

It only happens via Chromecast, so I guess it's either a problem of the Chromecast or something isn't communicating very well between Emby and Chromecast. I guess Chromecast is losing the connection somehow. I had a somewhat similar problem with Plex before. Sometimes it lost the direct connection to the server and was going through the Plex Relay instead. After a restart, everything was normal again. Something's strange with Chromecast I guess..

I'm having a similar issue playing videos (playlist) with the Emby Roku App.  It doesn't happen playing the same playlist on a PC (any browser, Chrome, Edge, Firefox) or on a phone/tablet via the Emby app.  Its random also.  It doesn't always stop/freeze at the end of the same video.  All files are M4V. Just like Riddler84, I have to manually cancel it/restart it.  Here is a portion of the log.  Also attaching the entire log.

My roku is NOT using ANY bandwidth or power saving features.  I understand there is a beta of the Roku app (4.0.88? not knowing what's in the release notes), should I try that?

Let me know if there is anything else you need from me to assist in diagnosing this issue.

Thanks in advance!

The issue is the range requests.

Thanks for the response.  I'm not sure what that exactly means (range requests)  Is there something I can do to mitigate or workaround, or are you saying it's

a known issue that is being worked on?

Thanks!
