MBSki 1114 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Why aren't my Sports episodes showing up in Next Up? They show up in Continue Watching, but not Next Up. Is this a bug? I think they should be in both.
ebr 16184 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Are they recognized as TV shows with proper seasons and episodes? Doesn't look like it based on that display. That's the only way they'd show in next up.

I would advocate for not requiring them to be in a provider in order to be added to next up.
ebr 16184 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 They have to be TV shows with season and episode numbers to Emby. That doesn't necessarily mean they have to be in the metadata provider but that is the easiest way for that to happen. Without that data (season and episode numbers) there is no "sequential" to them. Only TV is included in Next Up at this time.

Any idea how I should be implementing sports shows so Emby picks up the seasons and episodes that I've identified?

The fact the name is showing like that indicates that Emby does not see that as a TV episode. It is just showing the file name. Look at the difference to the one next to it. It would have to be structured and identified as a TV show and then with seasons and episodes.

It sounds like the Emby database, which I can't control, needs an entry for the season and episodes. Maybe this would be solved by allowing custom seasons\episodes entered by users and only available to that specific user's server? Just a thought. Any other way to solve it?
pwhodges 2012 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 You can fill in season and episode values for each episode by editing the metadata, either from the menu in the episode view, or in the central metadata editor. But I don't know if that would be enough in your case; I imagine that the library type would need to be TV series at the least. Paul
ebr 16184 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 @cayars has extensive experience with setting up sports I believe. He can probably help when he has time. 1
MBSki 1114 Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 @cayars No rush, but when you have a free moment I'd be interested to hear your solution for this issue.

I handle my sports the same way and I always have to manually edit the episode name to remove the "LEAGUE - s####e####" bit. @mbarylski Try editing the metadata for each league and giving it a fake entry in the IMDB ID field. Doesn't matter what you put. 1
Luke 42078 Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 If they don't have season and episode numbers then that could be why.

They do have season and episode numbers, but apparently it needs to match a tv series in the Emby database. How would I make an entry in the Emby database so I could get a match?

Maybe it needs a rescan and refresh though. 7 hours ago, crusher11 said: No it doesn't. Here's how I've named mine. There's no MLB tv series of course so the filename is 100% custom.
Solution crusher11 1101 Posted June 14, 2022 Solution Posted June 14, 2022 Does the episode meta data have episode numbers listed? Is it a TV library?

MBSki 1114 Posted June 14, 2022 Author Posted June 14, 2022 Something interesting that I noticed is that when I manually add the episode number it wipes out my played status. A little annoying, but I suppose I should've expected that.
crusher11 1101 Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 You shouldn't need to manually add it. Mine picks it up from the filename. Is it a TV library? What's your file structure?

crusher11 1101 Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 You have MLB above sports? Can you share a Windows Explorer screenshot and a screenshot of your library settings?
