Server username / password not accepted on other devices

Hi - very new here (just this morning). 

I setup a server without issue and created a username / password that allows me to use my media via the web interface but when I try to sign in on the smart tv app it can't find my username. When I try the reset password function no password is received. 

I signed up for the community using the same username and password which was strange. 

How do I link the two together? It appears as though the server username/password is completely separate to anything else.

Hi, what exactly do you mean by this? Are you trying to reset your Emby Community password, or the password for a user on your Emby Server?

• Installed the server and created a username / password
  • No confirmation email received
• Installed the app on my LG TV
• Attempted to sign in with username / password using the 'pin' webpage
  • https://emby.media/pin.html
    • Failed
• Attempted to reset password on the 'pin' webpage - no email received
• Successfully changed the password within the server settings page (just to make sure there was no typo)
• Still unable to sign in on the 'pin' webpage
• Registered for the community page using the same username and password
  • Received confirmation email etc
  • I assume the two are not linked?
• Attempt to sign into the server using the community username / password
  • Failed

TLDR; I want to be able to sign into apps on my TV, phone etc to stream from my server. The username / password I created when I installed the server doesn't work on any Emby sign in pages. I tried both the username and email address. 

 

Completely at a loss.

Finally figured it out. I had to create a new account within the server, then link the community registered email address. 

 

Now when I sign in on the TV I get both users, weird but it works.
