Ninko 78 Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Hi, Although I like how the new paused OSD matches the rest of the Emby interface, I think it has not been implemented well. First, as mentioned in a previous thread, the 'Go Back' button no longer does anything, I'm assuming that's a bug? Second, when the program is paused, the 'Back' button use to take you out of what your watching, now it resumes playback. I'm assuming another bug? Third, when paused you used to be able to press the 'Down' button where it would give you information about the program you are watching, this now only works during playback. To me this is a step back, not forward. Forth, the paused OSD use to disappear after 10-15 seconds of inactivity which was useful for times you wanted to see a still picture up close, but now the OSD blocks most of the screen. Which brings me on to my final point... Fifth, I don't see any point in showing the timeline thumbnails unless your actively rewinding or fastforwarding, just displaying the progress bar when paused was fine. Like I said, I like that you've replaced Roku's paused OSD, it fits much better with the rest of the Emby interface, but I get the feeling not enough thought/feedback/testing went into implementing it. What does other Roku users think? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 Hi, yes we are working on improving it. Thanks for the feedback.
speechles 2055 Posted May 28, 2022 Posted May 28, 2022 (edited) Thank you for your feedback and apologies we did not meet your expectations. Hopefully we can do better. Let us see what we can do to alleviate those issues. We have already tackled the first issue. The "Replay" button which goes back 30 seconds each press is functional again. The second issue you list is actually correct. The "back" button should dismiss the trickplay without seeking. It should not take you "out" of playback entirely. The same with pressing back when the normal OSD is showing. It just hides the OSD. The "back" button when trickplay is shown should just cancel the trickplay OSD and close it. That is the expected behavior. The third issue is an oversight. It is because once you start into a trickplay action it can never be dismissed via timer even when in a paused state. it should have a timer to allow that enough time elapses during a paused state it would dismiss the trickplay OSD and it just natively hides...or... you press the back button to hide it. Once dismissed it is possible again to enter the normal OSD using up/down/ok rather than left/right/fastforward/rewind. This is the expected behavior. The fourth issue is also an oversight. The paused state is not allowing the OSD to dismiss itself with time. You have to either use the back button to dismiss the trickplay or wait for enough time for the trickplay OSD to dismiss itself. It will also eventually be possible to just use the play/pause buttons and avoid the OSD altogether when pausing. This is the expected behavior. The fifth issue is how native Roku handles this. If there are thumbnails these are showing during seeking. We are trying to copy the native Roku trickplay behavior as closely as possible as not to disrupt any users. This is the expected behavior. If you find any expected behaviors are not meeting expectations this is an issue. We are actively working to solve these issues. Please stay tuned. Edited May 28, 2022 by speechles
zebo51 22 Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Will the Roku OSD be getting an update to look like the OSD when playing on a browser which allows you to see the movie info, cast & crew etc? I saw that new feature in the latest release and was sad when I found not for the roku.

crfloyd0932 5 Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 not sure if this has been mentioned yet or not but when a show is paused, the clock in the top right is also paused. 2

Hi. Yes you are correct. Because the Trick Play (seeking) currently does not time out when paused (and close the OSD) it is possible to get a stale clock because the OSD remains open. Thank you for pointing that out. Do you see anything else? The more eyes the better. We don't want to hit any icebergs. We will have a fix for this problem soon. Apologies. The "Ends At" time was also not updating if the OSD was open for longer than 60 seconds. We will fix both of those to update as long as the OSD or Trick Play is open. Edited May 30, 2022 by speechles
SDMattman 6 Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 I'm not a fan of the thumbnail being displayed when playback is paused. A few times I've had it cover up something onscreen that I paused to read, get a better look at, etc

That will clear the OSD off the screen and leave the video paused. At least that is hoe it works on my Rokus.

ebr 16169 Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Please try this out with the latest release of the app. Thanks.
