... without the tool I would have never looked at the tags at all ;)

Yep - searching by Audio Codec Tag (beyond the limited built in codecs) is very useful especially if you are trying to test your Audio system with the more advanced HD codecs ;)

It would be really nice to be able to modify the Audio track title of a library item after it was touched by the plugin from inside Emby. Best example would be e.g. the D+ Star Wars Project where you have lots of Audio Tracks and all are simply names Dolby Digital 2.0. But one is the score, one is the 1978 track, one is the Silver screen track, one is the DVD track etc... Currently you need to process the file, then do an exclude inside the plugin and modify the title manually outside of Emby.

So yes, if the MKV Audio Track already has a title, then the plugin will overwrite it with the codec combo details you choose.   However, as the Commentary function does now, there is no reason why you cannot maintain aspects of this title before the plugin replaces it - and re-use that as part of the new title.

So maybe items within certain delimiters could be retained - for example anything in braces (ie curly brackets) { } - will be included.

Something like that is easy to add.

So the title would then be 'Dolby Digital 2.0 [1978 Track]' - where the original track may have been '{1978 Track} DD Stereo'

What we can't do, is simply try and append the existing title as is - as then it will add all sorts of previously unwanted titles.

fyi - this is what I wanted to do with Commentary - but parsing the details after finding the word commentary to get a consistent look is not easy, so I just decided to strip it and append the word [Commentary] after the created codec title instead as a compromise. (+ add an optional tag to make finding commentary tracks very easy)

Let me know of any ideas and I'll see what i can do.

Curly brackets would be absolutely sufficient. 😇

Additionally to the bracket approach there is something I noticed today. I restructured naming convention of my whole library, so all parent folders of the movie files changed. Emby rescanned the library and every movie got a new db ID and all items in the exclude list were obsolete. Sure I forgot what db item was which movie I excluded months ago. 🤣

Wouldn't it make sense to replace the exclude list in plugin settings with a indication file for exlusion, e.g. "<movietitle>.mediainfo.exclude.txt" or ".infoexclude" or something like that? This would be persistent across all library rebuilds.

It would actually make more sense to simply use the tvdbid or moviedbid as the index - and ignore the emby id.  That way it's fully portable.

btw - I did the bracket update,  it was a bit of a hack as I just used an existing setting to turn it on/off - I've been running it for a while - I just haven't had time to release it .. life is just too busy atm.   I'll get around to it .. ;)

Where can I find the latest Emby.MediaInfo.dll online? So far I searched the keyword in this post thread. Thank you!

New RBJ version - 1.0.1.34

  • Added an option to 'correct' the use of line breaks in the overview field.
  • Added an option to Tag when there is a Intro or Credit hidden marker in a TV Episode.

Line Breaks

Currenly, even though \n is used in the text, emby does not acknowledge this in any of the clients ... :(

image.png.56c8d414ff786e6cf8bbe5cbd7a01feb.png

The metadata editor is the only area that shows them ...

image.png.7b1e690a19dd3ecee2ddf0ff1c27f9ac.png

So by turning on this in the Plugin - it will replace all \n with HTML line breaks ..

image.png.def61851c2ed8d1811cf036b1cd6a926.png

.. and thus all clients will have nicely formatted text as originally intended.

NOTE - Currently this is ONLY applies to Movies and Episodes.   I'm working on Music/Albums and Film/TV Collections - but not there yet.

CAUTION - There is no UNDO - so to get the item back how it was, just Refresh the Item in Emby.

TEST by 'Re-processing' an item using the Plugin.  If happy, then you can re-process all items.

image.png.2ccc3640e70baa4f26a217a6f79f1211.png

Intro/Credit Tags

This just simply adds a suitable Tag if the TV Episode has the hidden Intro or Credit markers.

Unless you use the ChapterAPI Plugin or the original Introskip Plugin - there is no way to know if the Episode has markers until you hit them ..

Obviously you can then sort/filter on these items.

NOTE - Unless added manually by the ChapterAPI Plugin or automatically as part of the original Introskip Plugin - you may not have any Credit Markers.

Make a copy of the previous DLL and then replace with the attached.  Clear browser cache and close any emby browser instances before reloading.

Sorry no - it didn't really fit as it's only designed for MKV video files.

It's a pity that it doesn't go any further here.

I started to enter the video and audio information by hand instead of the slogan - it doesn't look too bad:

And this is how it looks in Kodi:

All in all, this would actually be cross-platform if you were to enter it in the NFO file. So Emby, Kodi, Plex, Jellyfin etc....

My hope was that it would be modified so that you can also read the bitrate in Kodi, as I currently do manually. As in my post here

ok - so it's not broken then 😝 - I just haven't felt the need to add this as to me it's duplicate information.    Unlikely I'll have any spare time in the near future, but if I do I will add the option.

hm... ok

I've been talking to a few people recently who, like me, have said goodbye to Emby Premiere and the app. And the way things are going here, we won't be the only ones. That would have been a great option, with the information instead of the slogans.

I have suggestion.

Maybe can add HDR & Dolby Vision support also for HD files like UHD movies?

For example, these 2 video files are DV8 HDR, but for HD it shows only HD.

Meh, I hope this setting would be optional.

Yea we deliberately didn't include DV and HDR for any other resolution other than 4K as it's very rare.    It's probably a simple inclusion tbh - but I haven't looked at the code in a while...

@rbjtech newest Handbrake versions passtrough DV & HDR when converting to HD.

I converting all 4k files also to HD to avoid transcoding.

P.S. Not important, but for some reason, when adding new files, usually need to scan library twice to update to pretty names.Maybe because my server (HP Z 620) is old or because library size (65Tb). Attached log file for information.

Also could update mkvpropedit version for newest OS

Is this true?

All my 1080p files with DV/HDR are tagged correctly.

I'm using MediaInfo 24.05 and mkvtoolnix 70.0.0. Video display settings are all enabled.

@NormanosYeah experience the same since the Media Toolbox task is triggered by the library scan, when enabled, butit seems there is no trigger from Toolbox back to Library Scan so it can rescan the file changes. I circumvented this by setting up a scheduled task for a library scan every hour.
