cd01 8 Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 Hi, I have decided to remove all photos from my emby installation due to the insane pressure it puts on some of the queries etc. I have indexed over 2 million thumbnails so the cache is massive, nearly 100gb of thumbnails. What is the best way to go about clearing out this cache? My current best alternative (i believe) is to manulally go into /emby/ and just rm -r /cache/ (delete the entire cache folder) then remove library.db, delete the libraries inside emby and then redo an entire indexing, is this the best way to go about it or is there a better way?
Luke 42078 Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 hi, the cache subfolder is safe to delete anytime you want, so yes, your procedure would be fine.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 A cache clean-up task deletes everything 30 day old and if still needed the server regenerates it. You can manually delete the cache folder contents if you like also as the server will rebuild it. Would not delete the database unless you want to start over. You probably should vacuum the database if you removed that many items. Option is on Settings-Database.
cd01 8 Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 as always thanks for the quick replies, cheers.
