CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) From Home page, I select music videos to land here. 1st pic: Notice "sort by artist". I scroll down to Paul Simon and see only 2 videos, that can't be right. 2nd pic: my windows folder structure and content If I use Emby search for any of those missing clips, it finds all of them, but for reasons beyond me, here's what I get when I click on music videos/Paul Simon. 3rd pic Edit: Found the problem, for some reason, Emby merged most video of this artist, I had to use the Split Version button to get things right. ebr 16169 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Hi. Artist doesn't come from folder structure - it comes from tags in the media. Is the media tagged properly?
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 Just now, ebr said: Hi. Artist doesn't come from folder structure - it comes from tags in the media. Is the media tagged properly? Indeed, and the MV folder view was giving same incomplete results. Emby somehow merged 7 different clips from this artist. All is well now, thanks
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) By cherry picking artists from (some of them) known substantial collection I was able to find 7 or 8 video, that multiplied into +/-70 videos hidden before. They all shared those anomalies. 1) "Versions"drop down menu on top area of media page, near Play and Trailer buttons. In my case it rolled down to show almost all other videos by the same artist 2) "Split Version Apart" at bottom, just before Media Info area. Does exactly what is desired here To be thorough, I would check all this library (and maybe other libraries too) to spot out all media with those Version option buttons . Doing it one media at a time is long and tedious. I was hoping the Report plugin would consider versions presence, but I couldn't find any mention of it Does any one have a suggestion other then checking media info page 1 by 1 (times 1500 music videos, not to mention movies and TV) Edited May 25, 2022 by CharleyVarrick

ebr 16169 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Ah.... this is a naming problem. They're getting picked up as multi version due to the "[something consistent] - " naming.

CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 Also while this is a Music Video library, look at synopsis and movie detail: the media is from IMDB Blue Rodeo (1996) tt0149907.
ebr 16169 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 8 minutes ago, CharleyVarrick said: Do you mean all media name starts with Blue Rodeo... ? Yes, that plus the exact text " - " which is our naming convention for multi-version items. 1 minute ago, CharleyVarrick said: the media is from IMDB Blue Rodeo (1996) tt0149907 What metadata providers do you have enabled for the library?
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 8 minutes ago, ebr said: Yes, that plus the exact text " - " which is our naming convention for multi-version items. The odd thing is I seem to have just a relative handfull (10%-ish) of problem, the rest, tagged identically, does not cause problem. I also use the "-" in music to separate artist-song title-track #. 13 minutes ago, ebr said: What metadata providers do you have enabled for the library? IMVDB, but they dont know about 5 days in May from Blue Rodeo. Emby falls back to TheMovieDb which is the culprit here
ebr 16169 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 I would confirm that the library is still the type you think it is and hasn't changed to Mixed Content.

ebr 16169 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Thanks. The previous display was the name of the library, not its type.
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 So EBR, the 64k$ remains, do you know of any way I could get a list of "versionned" media within my library, short of checking them one by one?

Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 How does CoverArt know an item is multi-versioned?

I was already familiar (and compliant) with movies and tv show naming conventions, but I am not finding any Music Video equivalent. What would be a Emby-friendlier file name for "Blue Rodeo - 5 Days in May.mp4 ?
Luke 42077 Posted May 26, 2022 Posted May 26, 2022 There isn't really a naming convention for music videos because we don't attempt to determine any information from the file name.

Then why are these being captured as multi-version? Is the item somehow being resolved as something other than a music video and how would that happen in a music video library?
CharleyVarrick 283 Posted May 26, 2022 Author Posted May 26, 2022 While trying to get a grasp of the work in front of me, I went to metadata manager and spotted another thing which makes little sense. In the left pane menu under Music Videos, I see some song title listed, along with artist name thrown here and there. My MV file structure exclusively uses artist folder (no loose media).
