billyjr82 1 Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 With the movie file I'm trying to play, the black letterboxing on the top and bottom were removed with Handbrake. So the video file itself has no black border. When I try to play the video with subtitles, it's as if Emby is adding the subtitles and then adding the black letterboxing on top of it so you only get the top half of the bottom line of subtitles. So far this happens with Chrome on my laptop and it happened on Firefox at a friend's house. It seems to be a combination of this video file and playing it in a browser. When we used the native smart TV app, sometimes it worked and sometimes it got cut off like the browser. The file plays like normal with subtitles when I play the file outside of Emby using Media Player Classic and VLC. Once we got it working, I logged in to the server to take a screenshot of what it is showing. The TV app (when it worked) said it was doing Direct Play. Where Firefox on their computer and Chrome on mine said "Subtitle format not supported. Direct play error." I'm not too concerned about whether the subtitles are burned in server side or applied client side. But it's also worth noting that we've watched a ton of my files at my friend's place using Firefox with subtitles with no issue. Only this one file. It was made using the same methods as everything else that worked. MKV cropped to remove black borders with PGS subtitles embedded in the file. Attached are the server log, the transcode log of an attempt from my computer, a screenshot of the "Now playing" where the TV worked and Firefox failed, and a screenshot of what the file looks like with the subtitles cut off. Thanks in advance! embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-9229ba51-caf5-460f-91a6-03d8ae9d76f7_1.txt
