Played media is showing within Latest on home screen since 4.7 upgrade

Hello,

I'm experiencing a new issue since my Emby server installation upgraded to version 4.7.  When accessing the Emby server via a web browser, the latest media section within the Home Screen now displays media that has already fully played.   The setting "Hide fully played content from latest media" for the library IS turned on within the Home Screen setting menu.

* - The issue persists regardless of browser used to access the Emby server installation.  Specifically, I have tried Chrome, Firefox and Brave.  I have also tried clearing browser cache and accessing again with no change in symptoms.
*  I have toggled the setting off and then back on again within the setting menu, but the problem persists.
*- I have restarted the computer that is hosting the Emby server, but the problem persists.
*- Clicking the 3 dot menu for a fully played media file on the home screen, shows the correct menu options consistent with a file that has been marked as played.  No checkmark is being displayed for any file within the latest media section that has been marked as played.
*- Navigating to the previously played video file details screen correctly shows the file as played.

Attaching screen captures with yellow highlighting and a red box on the relevant parts showing Home Screen settings, the Home Screen itself, 3 dot menu for a fully played back video file, and an image showing the video file with full details itself and the Emby server log file.

Any assistance on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for bumping my own topic, but it's been a while and no one has replied.

Does anyone have any suggestions I can try to correct this?

Not sure as I can't reproduce.

If you created a test user do you see this same behavior?

I created a new user to test as requested, and the issue is present for the new user as well.

What exactly did you do?

Hi Luke,

To give more detail, attempting to follow Happy2Play's reply,  I logged into the server using a web browser and created a user named TestUser, and then logged into the account to test if the issue persists with a different user logged in.   I played a video that was listed in the Latest video section and after playback was completed, I returned to the Home Screen to check if it continued to list the fully played video and it did.   I verified that in the Home Screen menu under Settings that the option "hide fully played content from latest media" was selected for the library.  I also tried closing the browser and logging in again but the fully played video continued to show in the Latest video section for the library.

In other words, the behavior that I described in my first post persists for any user logged into the server, not limited to the account I usually use.

If you add a new video to your library, does it happen with that?

Luke,

Sorry for the delayed reply, but yes, when a new video is added, it has the same behavior.   If it is watched, and it is marked as played, it still appears under latest.

OK, we're looking into it. Thanks.

Has there been any progress on this?  I'm having the exact same issue.  The continue watching section is functioning properly.  But the "Hide fully played content from latest media" option is not working for my Movie and TV libraries.  Basically making the Latest Movie & TV rows useless.

HI there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.

It's the exact same scenario as Koolayde.  In example 1.  The Home screen is set to not to Hide fully played content from latest media.  As u can see the the circle with a checkmark is showing indicating it has been played as per usual.  In example 2.  I enabled the Hide fully played content from latest media option.  As you can see the played movies are still showing and the circle with a check mark is not showing.  And assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

@LukeWould this be the same as the Played/Unplayed filter issue in other topic?

@rax_y If you go to your Movies library and filter by played or unplayed does it filter properly?

Posted

Yes.  I filtered played movies to Playstate: Played.  This is the result.

So unplayed appears properly?

Yes the un played filter is working as expected.  Just to clarify here.  The played movies showing in my latest movies section is the only current issue(and played TV episodes in the latest TV section)  The exact issue is, in Home screen settings the Hide fully played content from latest media option is not working.

The option works on all my Windows servers.

@rax_y If you created a test user and set that setting does it work?

Can you send me a copy of your iibrary.db file? Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply.  Assuming you meant library.db file.  Thanks

If you click on marked for death, does it indicate a played status on the detail screen?

I think actually you might need to make new screenshots because the data in your library.db doesn't appear to match the screens. I think some played states have changed.

Attached are current screenshots and the current library. db file.  All the movies showing are marked as played.

Strange. When I run queries against this database the results look OK to me. So now what I'll need from you is a server log that can show me the exact database query being run. So here's what you'll need to do.

Shutdown the server. Locate the server's config/system.xml file and set the LogAllQueryTimes value to true. Then start the server, go into the Logs section, and temporarily enable debug server logging.

Then go to the home page, reproduce the issue, and immediately shutdown the server without doing anything else (to make the activity easier to find in the log), then provide me with the server log.

Very important though: Make sure to undo these two things because they will cause huge log files. In particular LogAllQueryTimes will flood the log heavily. That's also why I need you to start and stop the server immediately. Thanks.
