Biomorph 6 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Sorry! Forgot that I had tried Emby Server for Android on this device and wasn't paying enough attention to the path. 144edf02-f322-4f86-8211-7cb88df17c38.log

Biomorph 6 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Teen Titans (being x264) works, Married with Children fails and I can only assume because it's an old MPEG4 .avi
Luke 42077 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 And you can play the same file streaming from the server as opposed to the download?
Biomorph 6 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Just tried then and it appears to transcode the video.
Luke 42077 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 OK so that probably explains it. you must have force downloaded the original file, right?
Biomorph 6 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Yes, I'm sure I have have never had issues with .avi playing directly in the client prior. I don't often play them but have a couple of episodes offline for when I'm stuck with nothing to do so can't be sure of when the issue started. Edited June 16, 2022 by Biomorph
Biomorph 6 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 @Luke I have tried some prior versions and it seems MPEG4 playback worked on 3.1.xx and stopped from the 3.2 release.
Luke 42077 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 @Biomorph are you still seeing this with Emby for Android 3.2.52?

Can you please install this version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u1obwrckg4lkjc8/emby-android-google-armeabi-v7a-release.apk?dl=0 And then provide a log from the android app: Thanks.
Biomorph 6 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Log attached, played x264 file first, then the .avi that again failed. f853e686-35fc-4a39-9ad1-df4e8f74a548.log

Thanks.
Biomorph 6 Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Tried two other files, both played with no issue. 4bd1bae2-2f1a-4a9d-a283-a381687d7f2b.log 1
Luke 42077 Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 OK, this should be resolved in 3.2.55+. Thanks. 1
brian5678 7 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 I am also having the "Playback Error" with download movie media. I attempted download the first season of "3rd Rock". About 1/3 of the episodes would play. I have deleted all downloads and attempted to just download episode #1. As like I have seen before with iOS app, the media downloaded that does NOT get transcoded has playback errors. Transcode is not occurring for this download. I can't figure out how to get around samsung's file secure to get at app log. App v3.2.92 run on new Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 - android v13 server is v4.8.0.21 - log attached WORKAROUND -- set download quality to 1.5Mbps then downloading to force transcoding to occur ** then episode will playback embyserver-short.txt
