Playback Error, No compatible streams

Recommended Posts

I have a number of downloads on my Moto G Stylus. Many of them work but I just tried a couple and got an error message saying "Playback Error. No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details."

Shouldn't it have correctly transcoded the video to support my device before downloading?

Hi, yes, we already do this, but this may not have happened if you forced it to download the original file.

Can you please go over an example? Thanks.

In both these cases I went to the TV series, selected download, selected 4MBps, ticked both download unplayed and automatically download and chose an item limit of 5. I just went to manage the two series that this happened for and deleted the bad episode downloads and Emby re-downloaded them. One of them now works the other still gives the same error.

I have the same issue on. Moto G. I don't seem to have issues on a Samsung Galaxy S10, but the Moto has issues on some videos even though I've converted to a lower quality like @Mossop has done.

Hi, please try this version:

And then provide a log from the app:

Thanks.

@Luke

I'm having this issue as well, but with MP3's.  I updated to the version on the apk you posted, attached is the log.

Kinda looks like it doesn't like some characters in the path/filename?

Just to follow up.  It was a character it didn't like in the filename.  I took out the # and it's working now.

Before (didn't work): Rich Vos on O&A #63 - Trashing Larry King (64 kbps).mp3

After (works): Rich Vos on O&A 63 - Trashing Larry King (64 kbps).mp3

Seems like it may save some headache if it were a bit more lenient on parsing the filenames for downloaded/offline content.

Sorry to piggy back on this thread.

Nice catch! The problem files I have include a # sign too. Why does the download even care what is in the filename.

@Luke Can you fix this?

I've been unable to download anything with this version, it won't let me set up the download. I've seen this before when manually installing an Emby APK. For some reason in the download dialog the quality selection is missing, see the attached screenshot. I presume the button doesn't do anything because no quality has been selected.

Note also the download button is partially overlayed by the device home/back buttons. That is a problem on all versions of Emby on my device.

I see nothing at all in Internal/Android/data so I can't provide logs.

The files I filed this for don't have any strange characters in their names, it is all alphanumeric, spaces and the occasional hyphen.

I've re-installed the version from Google Play and now I see this problem there too so I'm unable to use downloads at all at this point 😫.

This is resolved in Emby for Android 3.2.50. Thanks.

Downloaded this about 2 mins ago. It didn't attempt to play at all, the error message popped up immediately.

New app now shows downloading on the episodes I've already downloaded. They seem to have disappeared all together from the download list and can't be re download. 👌

Please try downloading something. Then if you have a problem playing the downloaded video, please attach the android app log by following the instructions that I provided above. Thanks.

Would provide a playback log but the download had been stuck on ready to transfer all night.

Has it completed?

I got this error consistently when I had "Enable external players" enabled, but without any alternative player actually installed.

I have had the error 'No compatible streams' for offline files with 3.2.50 but only on MPEG4 .avi files, h264 seems to work fine with the limited testing I've done.

Hi @Biomorph

Please try this version:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/u1obwrckg4lkjc8/emby-android-google-armeabi-v7a-release.apk?dl=0

Then try to play the file producing the error, and then provide a log from the app. Thanks !
