Hi,

Sorry to jump in here. But, I'm receiving the exact same error in a browser on a Windows machine and also on the Android app on my phone.

The Android TV app on my ShieldTV does not report any errors when direct playing, it just displays a black screen and then exits back out to the movie playback page.

I am attaching logs for all three events. Another weird issue I noticed is that if I change my transcoding settings for Hardware Acceleration to "Advanced" all the options are blank (See screen shot below).

I've attempted a reinstall of Emby Media Server for Windows right from the website and also restarted my server a few times and no luck.

Hi, that's strange. The server is unable to run it's embedded ffmpeg build. If you open a windows command prompt and enter:

C:\Users\Media-Server-PC\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\ffmpeg.exe -hide_banner -version

What is the output?

It almost seems like ffmpeg corrupted possibly? Maybe you're more familiar with this error than I am.

I actually just got it solved. I had to go into the "Optional Features" section of Windows and install the "Media Feature Pack" because I was on Windows 10 N. Not sure what changes were made that just now made this an issue. But, it was a pretty trivial fix. Thank you for your help.

Edit: A more detailed fix for this can be found here:

The same happens for other versions of windows that do not have this role/feature, including all versions of Windows Server.  I'm running it on 2012R2.  Don't judge me been meaning to update this for ages :D.

This is the link for version 2012R2.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40837

There are likely other versions available for other versions of Windows server by searching "media feature pack server XXXX"

NOTE: it does require installation of IIS as a pre-req.  I dont particularly care for that, but it is what it is.  Its been installing for the past half hour.  Will come back tomorrow morning to see if it worked or not.

I started to have this issue.

server Windows 10

Emby 4.7.060

This issue happened when the new server came out.  I have moved it off the server and rebuild the meta data move it to a new location.  the location is not on a share it is a fixed drive in the system?  No subtitles

Any Ideas?

@ghst9999 please see this topic for the solution.

ffmpeg 5.0 has got support for MS Media Foundation which lead to this dependency.

As we aren't using MF, we were able to simply remove it from ffmpeg. For a quick resolution, you can replace ffmpeg/ffprobe with these:

ffmpeg_x64_2022-05-07_no_mf.zip

Notes

  • Only Windows is affected, and only versions which don't have the "Media Feature Pack" insalled
  • No need to replace when you don't have any issue
  • The ffmpeg version numers remain unchanged
    (same code, different compilation)
  • If you have a 32bit Windows version, please wait for 4.7.0.1

This fix will be included in 4.7.0.1

It's OK - you need a certain number of posts before editing is enabled for you.

The fix for this will be in 4.7.1 in the coming days. For now I've also patched the current stable release so you can also reinstall from the website on top of your existing installation. Thanks.
